Pot shop meeting 271 Worcester Road

I had written this for a local FB chat room that deals with government issues. They didn't allow it. One big revelation that should raise the eyebrows of the taxpayers.

It's after Christmas and still no follow-up on the meeting at 271 Worcester road last Saturday. Since no one can comment, I'd like to review what happened. The mark of a good journalists is a non-biased approach to reporting what is happening. When journalists take upon them selves to decide what's important to our community, we all lose. There has been a lack of quality reporting since the ballot question 4 was passed 2 years ago. The overly restrictive zoning by-laws will prevent all 6 shops from potentially opening here and will prevent Framingham from fully reaping the financial benefits from this billion dollar industry. The few retail pot shops that will open next year will significantly add to our bottom line and could stave off water and sewer rate increases and even property tax increases. A few take a ways from the meeting that attracted the main driving force in the delay of implementing the retail pot shops Dennis Giombetti. G King was there and so was M Cannon passing out his business cards. A hand full of local residents and J Grove (the principal objector) who asked a bunch of questions that were answered by a deep pocket, Porsche driving lawyer who answered all the questions. The highlight of the meeting came when G King asked "what kind of money are we talking about,1 million, 10 million, 100 million" and the response was 10 to 15 million. That means, given that this business will pay 3% of their sales to Framingham, we could expect to see $300,000 to $450,000 in tax revenue on top of the community host agreement extortion payment for up to 5 years of another $300,000 to $450,000 depending on sales coming to Framingham from each retail store. In closing, if Giombetti and company did not get their moratorium and the planning board did not get their restrictive zoning, Framingham could have already been reaping the financial gains.

  1. Why was Cannon handing out business cards at the meeting? Is his business connected to the weed industry?

  2. i'm assuming it was his councilman cards. Like at tonight's meeting for another mj store on Rte 9. He's letting the neighbors know who he is. And as you may guess.. he apposes both locations for neighborhood and traffic reasons.

  3. He should be representing the majority not the few who oppose. Isn't that how democracy works.?

  4. Everyone is saying they represent the residents in opposition but who are those residents. None of the people Judy grove says she represents ever show up. Begs the question do they even exist?

  5. Isn't Cannon always whining about Framingham not being business friendly? And now he is pushing against a legitimate business coming into the city? Who is being business unfriendly now?

  7. just a business card with your name on it..

A few close neighbors seem to be not aware of the facts surrounding cannabis and cannabis stores. It would be beneficial for all if Mike would explain to the them what the rules are already in place.
