The League of Women Voters of Framingham is holding a Zoom meeting to hear from representatives on both sides of ballot question 1, the Right to Repair, on Saturday, September 12th at 4pm via Zoom. We will also be doing this event live on the LWV Framingham Facebook page, and this event will be broadcast live on AF-TV.
Question 1 (2020) would require manufacturers that sell motor vehicles equipped with telematics systems to install a standardized open data platform beginning with model year 2022. Vehicle owners could then access telematics system data through a mobile device application and then give consent for independent repair facilities to access that data and send commands to the system for repair, maintenance, and diagnostic testing.
Currently, the 2013 "right to repair law" exempts telematics systems from wireless accessibility by vehicle owners and independent repair facilities.
Joining us for this discussion will be a Tommy Hickey from MassRighttoRepair.org, who are supporting passage of this ballot question, and Katrina Gaddis from Solomon McCown & Cence who will be representing the opposition to the question.
We will be taking questions in advance via email, and also will take questions during the event via the chat box on Facebook Live and on Zoom. All attendees will be muted.
We hope you will join us for this informative event. Registration is required and registration will be closed at 2pm on the day of the event. For more information on this event and to register, visit our Facebook page at and click on Events

ReplyDeleteWhat are the chances of Councilor Cannon making an appearance?
ReplyDeleteif he does show up... he will be on his best behavior
ReplyDeleteha ha jim good one
ReplyDeleteI hope you mute him so he does not disrupt the meeting as he did for the last LWV Zoom meeting. I an constantly surprised by his ignorance, but then, by now we should be use to it I would think. He shows his lack of education and lack of manners every time he opens his mouth.
ReplyDeleteVery much looking forward to this as my gut is to support it but those media ads in opposition to it give me pause.
ReplyDeleteFYI: Domestic Violence groups are against this question. The ads against are terrifying.
ReplyDeleteCannon has a best behavior?
ReplyDeleteCannon could buzz in late with Lembruno and start demanding that since she is late and is a woman and is council royalty she be allowed to speak on the issue.
ReplyDeleteSo are those ads accurate that say this could be dangerous for victims of DV? If so I am voting against this, but I thought those ads were BS. Do you know if they are accurate?
ReplyDeletethe question about those ads (and domestic violence) will be addressed today at 4PM.
ReplyDeleteIs there a recorded version of this we can see somewhere?
ReplyDeleteAre you going to do anything on ranked choice voting or the CPA ballot questions?
