The social media attacks on the League of Women Voters and it's President Steph Deeley

If you haven't followed what has transpired in the past few weeks, here's a recap. Mr. Sen questioned the integrity of the League of Women Voters here in Framingham, citing that they were biased against a person of color who happens to be running on the republican ticket.  Mr Sen also insulted Steph Deeley on several occasions and was instrumental in staging a not so well organized protest (supported by Maria Robinson) outside the main branch of the Library when the League held a Democratic Primary forum.  Mr. Sen has claimed that he is the local leader in fronting for all kinds of groups, but his actions have been deemed to be over the top for at least one.

Dear Stephanie,

I wanted to follow up with you on our final disposition regarding the concerns you brought to me about communication you've had with Dhruba Sen. 

The Brady Campaign has four core values: Accountability, Passion, Impact-Driven, and Excellence. We expect that our staff, board, and volunteers alike aspire to these values in all that we do. Part of being accountable is maintaining open, honest, and respectful dialogue. I apologize for the vulgar language and tone used in communication with you and the league. Further, I appreciate you bringing it to my attention. 

Due in part to the troubling interaction that he's had with you and our friends at the League of Women Voters, we've opted to indefinitely suspend the chapter. What that functionally means is that the chapter led by Mr. Sen is not longer chartered and he is not sanctioned to speak on behalf of the Brady Campaign in any capacity.

    People are afraid of being labeled a racist. He often uses that as an excuse to carry on his behavior.

    One issue the lWV will have to address with those questioning its motives is why did it go out of its way to put out an informational piece on the TDR vote that the City Council was taking but that a voter could NOT vote on? But then the lwv doesn't put out an informational piece on all the write-in candidates for State Representative which is what the voters WOULD be voting on. Something doesn't smell right there, Jim.

    The two are different. The League isn't responsible for pushing the write-in candidates to do anything. It's not our job to promote or dissuade voters. The Democratic Primary was for Dem's and if there were more the one R's ther'd be a Republican Primary.
    Did I miss the meaning of your statement?
    The TDR is something most voters don't know much about, if at all, but can have a huge effect on their neighborhoods. We were just trying to inform.

    Many voters didn't know about the write-ins for state rep as the only way to get someone on the ballot. Did the LWV put out any informational material about the write-in process? According to poll workers, there was a lot of confusion.

    On the other hand, the LWV puts out an informational piece for TDR that although could effect a resident's neighborhood; a voter had no voting power to influence that decision.

    So it educates a voter on an issue they can't vote on, but doesn't educate a voter on an issue they can vote on.
