Sam Mercurio has pulled out of the race
From the Source:
Sam Mercurio, a candidate for at-large Framingham City Council, has withdrawn from his run for office.
Mercurio said this is being done due to his inability to properly campaign as a result of an injury to his left foot. he has been forced to wear a support “boot” to prevent further ligament damage. Mercurio is severely limited in his ability to campaign door-to-door.
Between twice weekly physical therapy and lack of mobility, he cannot collect the necessary signatures by the final date.
As this issue will continue for several more week,s Mercurio cannot devote the time and energy required by the run for office.
If anyone would like a souvenir of his run, Mercurio said he would be happy to provide a now passe yard sign.
My comment: So we will have two women trying to fill the other at-large seat. It's a given G King will be reelected and would make a qualified candidate for Mayor in 2020. Ms Lumbruno and Ms. Pascual.
If you don't have enough supporters to go out and get those signatures for you then you would have had a very big problem collecting enough signatures to be on the ballot. Lets behonest here. This guy had no chance at all.
ReplyDeleteagreed
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure we are going to see a republican elected, whether Mercurio was running or not. He is a non-issue in this race.
ReplyDeletewell lets see... the other candidate is backed by Audrey and friends and don't forget who got Ms. Spicer elected.
ReplyDeleteI would have bet Audrey would have made a run for At-Large or council seat.
I agree, Sam was not a contender from the start.
Not too late for JP to run. If not for at-large, then for perhaps a district seat.
ReplyDeleteThis entire election is about Stefanini. He is counting on Framingham having a very short memory. Let's see how one scenario plays out. D1: Norton. Complete Stefanini flunkie. D2: Finlay. Complete Stefanini flunkie. D4: Cannon. Stefanini against mayor so Canon backs Stefanini. D5: Alexander. Another Stefanini flunkie. D7: Lynch. Stefanini flunkie. D8: Stefanini. At-Large: Lembruno. Utter Stefanini flunkie.
ReplyDeleteSo Stefanini could have 7 votes, so we will watch 2 years of him being Chair of Council and more shitting on the mayor so that he can take one more shot at his boyhood dream. And another 2 more years wasted, where nothing nothing gets done except for petty politics.
Lots of material here Jim. Start dissecting how the scenarios play out. The above one just sucks.
What a scenario. I'm not convinced anyone who has followed the elections last time will forget John's lapse in judgement. I'm sure, the forces that back the others will not let anyone forget.
ReplyDeleteI think G King will be the council chair. He's the only one that has the experience to run the show IMO.
Think everyone should be keeping an eye on district 8 Jimbo. Especially absentee ballots. The previous commenter is dead on. This will be Stef’s last chance. I would expect every dirty trick in the book to come out this time. The “positive” pledge promise is all bullshit.
ReplyDeleteYa don’t think the new cobornville association just came out of the blue did ya? Total improve the image PR move. And got the Source lady to do full blown coverage for it. That thing will sputter out as soon as the election is over.
ReplyDeleteJim if John gets a seat on the council there is no way George will be chair. John can’t control him. Likely will be a behind the scene deal to give it to Mike C and John will pull the strings.
ReplyDeletei cannot believe how obsessed people are with stef. there are plenty of people who play dirty in this town, and it ain't him. maybe people should start playing attention to what is happening on the school committee.
ReplyDeleteThe library video and his blaming of the victim gave us a glimpse of the great Stefanini. We were lucky that a working camera caught all the action. Then there was the whole gerrymandering in the state house that he got wrapped up in. How many things haven’t been caught on film?
ReplyDeleteJim you might be premature in giving a win to George King. You have been around the Ham for a long time and have seen how the politics work. You really think that if the votes aren't going to go a certain way, that the pushups, the poker, Nashoba won't be brought up?
ReplyDeleteThere are plenty of dirty political tricks that are played in Framingham. Didn’t a diehard Stefanini supporter keep trying to flaunt the idea that Mayor Spicer had a connection to a white supremacist?
ReplyDeleteI never heard the Mayor and the white supremacist rumor...( it does not surprise me) but the only group I know of are the Rozoli's and I'm sure she has no connection to them at all.
ReplyDeleteI don't see the push-ups, poker and Nashoba being brought up... unless one of the women bring it up on some social media platform. Neither has the experience to knock George out.
With all the ones who are leaving, we are left with no one that has institutional knowledge like George does imo.
It was less a rumor and more of an insinuation. I think it was the woman on the zoning board who kept trying to post on one of the facebook sites a recent high school reunion picture where some guy with a neo-nazi pin posed with Spicer.
ReplyDeleteCounting on Framingham Forward to call out all the dirty jackamoos.
