Toyota.... why did it take so long

In the WSJ today, we learn that Toyota has had customer complaints about sticky gas pedals since 2000. The NHTSA Chief (National Highway Transportation Admin) David Strictland is apparently so pissed that he is seeking to exercise his subpoena power and fines and even stopping of production. The secretive Japanese society is to blame for the problem according to Toyota.. it's a mindset thing they have about sharing.

Our regulatory body, overseeing this for many years, IS, as much to be held accountable as any of the Toyota people. We have opened many investigations and let Toyota slide to much, and the Feds know it now. Look for some of the Japanese to fall on a sword over this and perhaps, one small shakeup in the NHTSA.

And now I hear the total number recalled in 9 MILLION. I've heard surveys recently that state potential customers not going to but Toyota. And Mr. Toyota himself (May)( appear before Congress next week. This will be like intervening Dice Kay after a loss.

Honda is around 1/2 million.

You are starting to sound a bit like a bigot here Jim. Is that intentional? Did not know you were following the Rizoli mindset. Must say I am disappointed in that.

FR.... Car company leaders.. no matter who they are... should be held accountable, just like anyone else.

The guys irresponsible for the tainted milk tragedy were beheaded. Toyata is proud, but poor communication and secrecy are the root cause here. Do you know what Dice Kay says in response to questions when he's interviewed? Neither will Congress when Toyota testifies.

JR will be eliminated in the first round. Right or wrong.. he has the right to speech and how to rationally talk about illegal immigration is what's needed from all sides, if the voters want it. He's a pain in the ass and knows it.

I condemn his outward hatred to others not like him. His conclusions are not based in reality and much of what he says is just physobable, conceived in a vacuum and I think he knows it.

Nic response Jim. Must admit I was wondering the same thing that Framingham Resident was with your posting. Glad to see you recognize the absurdity of bigotry.
