Union reps trash Steven Trask.. oh the irony

At last night's Council meeting,

http://207.172.210.8:5002/CablecastPublicSite/show/1567?channel=1
during the public speak portion of the meeting (3:47) we heard from Scot Brown who is the president of a union at FPD and he was accompanied by Paul Duncan the other president of a union at FPD. .  Seconds into his speech we heard him say "troubles the department has had over the years" as he wined about Chief Trask being appointed to Chief. About how the system of choosing Trask was not right. I find it so ironic that two of the police officers (union presidents) who have brought shame to Framingham, want us to believe they are harmless in the "troubles the department has over the years".
Paul Duncan a member of the FPD SWAT Team shot and killed an innocent black man in January of 2011.

Officer Duncan held an assault rifle at the head of an elderly black man, laying on the floor of his home with his hands up. Officer Duncan while knowing that the innocent black man was not part  the drug bust, but had his finger on the trigger and the safety off. Duncan's lawyers argued that Duncan was immune from liability because the shooting was accidental and happened while he was acting as a Framingham Police officer. The award in the civil case was 3.75 million.

Scott Brown had his share of trouble in 2010 as well as he stopped at the storage facility to urinate coming back from a DEA party in Boston.

He was later acquitted by a single judge and the only witness was another Framingham Cop who denied seeing Brown with a gun pointed at the owner of the storage facility on Rte 30.

I would hope that the Council would approve of Steven Trask leading FPD. He must be on the right track since all the unions are fighting to get rid of him. If they (the malcontents at FPD) don't like working in Framingham, find somewhere else to ply your trade.

I agree 100% that the problem is those officers who are afraid they are going to be help accountable under a new chief. Ferguson let them run wild and now they are facing the prospect of having to play by the rules and they are afraid of that. I hope Trask's appointment stands

You mention nothing about Framingham's resident bullshit artist Councilman Cannon. He complains that the CIty should not have spent the money on a consultant to tell us how great Amanda Lumis is. But minutes later he complains that we didn't spend 75-150 grand on a consultant to pick a Police Chief. Of course, if they had spent the money he would have just made the same complaint he made about the Lumis report. Complete bullshit artist.

This is not about Cannon. This is about the process to appoint a new Police chief. Get off your high horse on Cannon. You don't like the job he is doing? Then run against him, although i suspect the person writing all this bull about him did run against him in the last election, but SHE lost. You seem to have lots of complaints but no suggestions for what we should be doing differently. Stop you bitching and start being helpful and constructive with new ideas yourself and then you might get my attention.

And keep in mind, officer Duncan has never received as much as a written warning that I know of. He violated the departments ethics code of conduct on several levels.
I still contend that the Mayor and Kezer did the right thing, albeit, not as picture perfect as we all should hope for. I can't imagine the council rejecting the appointment of Trask. That would open the flood gates for the unions to control who is hired. It should make no difference to any resident, Mayor or Council member what the union has to say about replacing Ken Ferguson. They are the root of many of FPD's problems IMO.
Mike was elected and until next year, he is our district 4 councilman.

I couldn't run against that tool if I wanted to. Not my district.

But, you got that right Jimbo, he's YOUR concilman. Maybe District 4 can open its eyes on the next election go round and kick him to the curb.

some 50 people showed. SMOC, the Mayor, Police and the Chief.
It was a bitch session for sure from the residents who live on Loring, Hollis etc. They all had legit complaints. The Chief made it clear, residents must call FPD with complaints. He also made it clear, FPD can't place officers permenatly, around the clock down there. SMOC was very informative on what they are doing. But some humorous parts, one building owner asked if we could bus the homeless to some place, feed them and have them work, one council person (Stoll) suggested banning all nips bottles in Town, and then there was Kathy McCarthy, she just wants to pass laws that are unconstitutional. One guy asked if he could rent the sidewalks in front of his building from the City.. Who wasn't there? Judy (I hate pot shops) Grove, Giombeti. Who was there Cannon, King, Phil O and Cheryl Gordon.
