CBD and Autism in children

Israel has lead the world in studying the effects of CBD on a variety of adult and children's illnesses. And this one might be of interest to some of our readers here. Might be a game changer for some who have tried everything.

Study: CBD-Rich Cannabis Mitigates Symptoms In Children With Autism Spectrum Disorder

Thursday, 15 November 2018
CBD Cannabis Jerusalem, Israel: The daily administration of CBD-dominant cannabis extracts is associated with improved outcomes in adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and severe behavioral problems, according to clinical data published in the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders.
Israeli researchers assessed the efficacy of whole-plant cannabis extracts in a cohort of children with ASD. Participants were administered extracts containing a 20 to 1 ratio of CBD to THC for periods of 7 to 13 months.
Patients demonstrated "overall improvement in behavior, anxiety, and communication" following daily cannabis dosing. Just over half of the participants either reduced or ceased taking prescription medications during the trial period.
Authors concluded: "Following the cannabis treatment, behavioral outbreaks were much improved or very much improved in 61% of patients. … [T]he results of the current study render worthwhile further exploration of this treatment avenue in controlled studies."

Amazing. Think of what we could be doing here if we could actually research this stuff!

Excellent question. I've asked a pal in the buis to find out where the 20 CBD to 1 THC ratio CBD can be found. As you know, CBD by itself is perfectly legal to obtain, but it has no THC at all. I hope to hear something today.

It will be amazing someday when they (science) unlock all the medicinal remedies here in the US. Until then, we have to rely on other countries like Israel and the UK.

Will things change now that it is legal in so many states? Can University or Hospital researchers here in MA now buy product on their own and do research?

Unfortunately the DEA is still classifying CBD as schedule 1, except for the newest FDA approved drug (CBD plant based drug for children's epilepsy). The DEA has a month or so to re-classify CBD. If they do that, the flood gates will open and anyone (Scientists) will begin exploring the possibilities with clinical trials.

for the parent with an autistic child. Due to many legal issues with giving a child any amount of THC, I'd suggest you picking up a bottle of straight CBD and try micro dosing CBD only. A trusted vendor is CBD Please 4 Elm St, Framingham, Bill Downing is the proprietor. If you want to get more clarity please feel free to e mail me directly: jamesmpillsbury@gmail.com
