It's official, State Reps work part time

News of newly elected mayor of Lawrence, State Rep. Willie Lantigua, will not be leaving the State House to be a full time mayor, at 100,000 a year, but that will be above his already full time pay of 61k as a State Rep.

The bigger news for the working class in this State is that on TV the other day, the Mayor/State Rep Lantigua, when asked how he would do both jobs? his reply was that the State Rep's job is PART TIME at best.... Ladies and gentlemen.... we finally have validation of what everyone in this State already knows, State Reps are part time positions with full time pay. Now it will be very interesting next year, when the mantra of the ruling elite here in Framingham, who have for decades proclaimed that this Town needs full time representation at the State House, watches one of their own be a full time Mayor of a big dying city.

I wish him well in both endeavors as his road is uphill, gravel and filled with pot holes, but will make the case for part time legislators if he succeeds in being a mayor at the same time.

I would love to hear what his fellow reps have to say about this! Oh boy, I can see some cold shoulders for him at the state house. How do we make this work for us now that we actually have one of the reps saying this himself?

All kidding aside, this is really big news. They are getting paid a full time salary for a position that someone doing it says is only part time. What is the governor's response to this guys statement? Shouldn't we be hearing lots and lots about this?

You have to say this for this guy, he sure does not toe the party line. I can only imagine the backlash he is getting from the other reps who are always trying to tell us how many hours they work for us. What a joke, the truth is now out there, lets see how they all squirm to get around this. I bet they just ignore what this guy said, or they all gang up on him and force him out saying he can not do 2 full time jobs. Talk about double dipping in this state, this is certainly an interesting take on that. But at least this guy is starting out being honest, even if he has his hands in the till at two different ends.

He is a liar and anyone who believe this guy is an idiot. How can being a state rep be a part time job in these economic times? They are all killing themselves to get us out of this mess. Just take a stroll through the state house any day from now until mid-January, the halls are so crowded with the reps and their staff that you can not even walk. They are so busy, and working so hard, they are burning the midnight oil. And then they are all going to ride home in Santa’s sleigh and drop bags full of fiscal savings and ethics down our chimney’s on Christmas ever. What the heck, this is the season of fairy tales, right?

You guys are correct.. he's off the Christmas list and probably won't go to DeLeos Christmas party tonight.

BUT.. this double dipping mayor/State Rep, has a huge task and Deval is in this also. Lawrence can not go bankrupt.. Deval won't have it.. not on his watch. Soon I believe, a pitch will be made by Deval to bail out Lawrence.

SO... the whole world is watching to see how this plays out. If Beacon Hill demands he resigns... oh my.... they will look like idiots in front of the whole world.

The fact that he said it.. on tape.. is good enough for me. They can hide from the media only so long on this.

Ha, ha, ha, ha. I say we all ask Richardson and Sanicandro about this. Would love to see what they have to say. Everyone send them emails asking them about this. Pillsbury can you give us the email addresses?

Bad news for the working class is happening faster than most of us can read about it. This situation will come up during the campaigns next year for sure. And if the guy makes it, no more proof will be needed to support the idea of a part time legislature.

I'll clean my chimney for Christmas and wait for all the good things we were promised, batteries not included.

Rep.TomSannicandro@Hou.State.MA.US

Rep.PamRichardson@hou.state.ma.us

I can't imagine them answering any questions about their part time job at full pay.
