2010 starts just like 2009 on Beacon Hill

State Sen. Anthony D. Galluccio was led away in handcuffs today, sentenced to one year in jail for violating the terms of his home confinement.

A judge sent the Cambridge Democrat off to jail after a full day of testimony over the senator’s failed Breathalyzer test Dec. 21.

The bigger question is, will Senate Pres Murray fire him or will they let him resign?
or, how many more elected officials will meet the same fate here in Mass in 2010?

How can they not fire him? How is he going to particpate in the process from jail?

If he doesn't resign, the Senate can consider an order referring the matter to the Senate Ethics Committee, which can censure, suspend or expel him, or call for his resignation.

Ok, so the process exists to get him kicked out, now who starts that process? Why hasn't someone done that already? Is there really a chance that they will let him continue to serve from his jail cell?

I can not help thinking how stupid MA just look to the rest of the world when a sitting legislator is in jail, another says it is a part time job only so he is the mayor of his city also, and the last few sitting speakers have all been indicted for one thing or another. Add to that the fact that a republican candidate for the senate seat left vacant when Kennedy died is using a speach made by Kennedy's brother, the president of the US, to further his election campaign. If I were some dishonest, unethical politician looking for a place to get elected, MA would be at the top of my list I tell you.

As a supporter of the Salvation Army what do you think about that story about the guy in Worcester who lives in a $350,000 home outside Worcester where he runs the Salvation Army because he does not want his kids going to school in Worcester and he does not want to live near the people who use the shelter? I gotta tell you that it makes me think that following your advice about donating to them was not such a good idea.

Jim are you sure you want to run for any elected office in a state with the reputation MA politicians have? Look at this guy as an example of the company you would be keeping? You could be doing yourself a whole boat load of damage to become one of them. But if you are willing to take that risk I would vote for you.

Hey lets give the guy a break. He didn’t do anything wrong he just brushed his teeth they should not send you to jail for that. If this idiot thinks we are dumb enough to believe that story then he clearly has a very low opinion of the people he represents so I think that reason alone is enough that they should kick him out.

The longer this goes.. the worse it looks for all of them. You and I.. would have already been terminated and escorted out long before this.

JJ.. I've lived with reputation problems for the past decade, although, never affiliated with such a dishonesty, like they display.

I have great hope that at least some of the beaconhillerites are good honest human beings... willing to stand for what's right for the people.

This chapter is now closed as he has resigned, but look for him to get back in the thick of it when he gets out.

From the Globe, we learn that his past drunken behavior has been ignored and even Weld pardoned him over another DUI.

The system of protectionism on the Hill is not missed by the voters and those who continue to run under the radar and get caught, will face severe consequences in 2010.
