Board of Health appointments
As many of you know, the Mayor will be appointing 3 member's to the BOH very soon. After all the hysteria created by the BOH regarding retail cannabis shops in the past 6 months, one has to wonder who will be appointed. The case against Mike Hugo is clear, he was disbarred on Sept 13, 2017 after being found guilty on all 4 complaints. "The respondents conduct in responding to questions of bar counsel with knowingly false, misleading and deceitful information in connection with bar coucel's investigation violated Mass. R. Prof. C. 8.4(c), (d), (g), and (h).
Keep in mind, All of the parties involved (Giombeti, Stoll, Shepard and Cannon) are part of the democratic town wide committee and Hugo is the press secretary. If the Mayor and the nomination committee appoint Hugo, it will be just because of their loyalty to the party and a real mistake by the Mayor.
If you followed the Marijuana Task force meetings and the BOH meetings, you heard from Sam Wong at the BOH present reefer madness evidence that claimed retail cannabis shops would be a public health concern. You also heard from the Chair of the BOH who is so biased and so lacking in understanding Question 4, she made herself look very unprofessional in her capacity as chair for a number of reasons. Member's Moore MD and Wester RN, showed a particular bias and in Moore's outlandish staements about "Lives are at stake" show his bias and lack of understanding.
Bottom line, the only member now on the BOH who has shown some sense of reason is Tammy Harris MD. None of the others should be appointed to the BOH, including Sam Wong who's lack of understanding and the ability to deal with the truth disqualifies him to be on any BOH, anywhere.
The BOH should make sure what we eat is safe in restaurants and deal with environmental hazards in our community. Imposing their will on retail cannabis shops is not what they are mandated to do.

I agree with all you say. If the BOH wants to expand beyond making sure places serving food are clean, and start taking on other issues like cannibus, then let them start with the number one drug doing damage in our communities, and that is alcohol. You can not convince me that you are fighting against pot because of its "danger" when you completely ignore what the CDC shows is the number one drub of choice, and that is alcohol. Go after that first and I might beleive your statements of lives being at stake. However, as long as the members of the BOH fail to take on the alcohol issue, they have no credibility when it comes to put.
So if Hugo has been disbarred shouldn't that have been reason enough to kick him off the BOH? He admitted to illegal activity so how can he be expected to hold others to account for their activities?
How do you apply to be considered for the BOH positions?
I heard that there were 16 applicants for the BOH. I'd send an e mail to the COO tkezer@framinghamma.gov if interested.
one might think you'd be asked to leave the BOH when he was disbarred... but not here in Framingham.
Excellent point about alcohol.. the real public health threat in our society. But they are regulated by a state agency.. and so is the cannabis industry, but that dosen't faze the BOH here at all. They will use a court ruling to further their reach and claim it's to protect us. Just wait and see what fee structure they (BOH) comes up with to license retail shops. As far as I know, no other community in Mass mandates the BOH to take control of retail shops.
When did Cannon become a Democrat? Thought he was a Lumbruno Republican.
He was stumping with Gozalez at the farmers market last week. I just guessed he went to the other side, since being a R in this blue town can be politically hazardous to one's health.
Didn't take too long for him to flip. Just back in 2016:

Hugo has problems, and his only place to feel important now is on the BOH since no one else would give him any authority except Framingham. He should NOT be reappointed

I don't agree with your opinion on Mike Hugo and the job he has done but I have to say that if he has been disbarred, and he has, then he should not hold any official position anywhere. What are we thinking here in Framingham?
I sent the entire document from the overseers to the coo. If Hugo is appointed the Mayor will be in deep trouble with the voters imo.

And no not Mary Ellen Kelly, talking about ex-school committee Kelly, he's had his knickers in a twist since the election. Kelly and both Hugos need to go into political retirement for a while.

Someone who admits to a crime, even if that crime is stealing from his family, should not be appointed to any position that requires scruples. Kick Hugo out
