Thatcher Kezer looks for another job
I'm not surprised by the announcement that Kezer is a finalist for a Town Manager's position in Dracut. From the very start of our new form of governance, Kezer was more of a Mayor than our elected Mayor. He did bring a vast amount of experience to our City which our Mayor lacked.
The constant friction from the Giombetti lead council showed right from the start, Kezer's job would not be a cake walk. When watching the council meetings I couldn't help think that Kezer was tied to the whipping post when being badgered by Cannon.
The City will not be served if Keezer leaves without a replacement ready to step in. And then there's the search for a new COO, taking lots of time and money I'm sure.
His commute from Amesbury to Dracut would be less than it is now commuting to Framingham. Dracut is much smaller than Framingham and is governed by a Board of Selectman. I don't blame the guy for wanting to leave and I hope we do an exit interview with him. I'd be very interested if he would spill his guts on why he would be leaving.

Good riddance to bad trash
Exit interview won't do much good if the people doing the exit interview are the reason he is leaving. I say their should be a committee of residents, not elected, who do that interview. Are you game to propose that Jim?
Oh man... they would never let me in on that interview.
I'll bet the retired Lt Colonel would never kiss and tell.
And just think if he really did spill his guts... would he throw Giombetti and company under the tank? Would he tell our Deloris Hamilton that he was tired of the badgering from member's of the council? Or would he tell Deloris that working for a new inexperienced Mayor who made it so hard for him to work here for the next year and a half guaranteed, he'd leave our great city for Dracut. Half the size of the Ham and has Town Meeting.
I love idea of residents asking Kezer
Either way, his intentions are clear and he didn't become a finalist last week, he's been talking to who knows who long before the announcement. There will be another stranger taking his place and another long learning curve for us to endure while he or she gets up to speed.
