A definitive review of the Eurie Stamps killing

Thanks to Deb Butler for letting me know about the 40 minute show that was on NECN last night. Never before seen court interviews with all of those who there and all of those who were in charge.

It's been 10 years and we are waiting to see if the FBI will find any new evidence that would change anything. The statute of limitations has run out on some of the charges that might have been brought forward years ago.

If after watching the show your not convinced officer Duncan should have been at very least fired you weren't watching closely.

How come we never heard anything about this from the city? Seems they would have shared. Oh yeah, they all refused to comment because it does not exactly paint a glowing picture of Framingham police. Yes, Duncan should be fired. Seems like even his superior officers believed that. Pretty interesting what then Chief Karl says. A must watch for anyone in Framingham

Saw this last night. Thanks to Deb Butler for putting it out there. I agree with previous poster, this is a must watch for those of us who live in Framingham

If you new nothing about this story other than what this particular show highlights, then you know that Duncan should be fired. Why has that not happened?

This cop is allowed to continue being employed and you wonder why the Mayor did not discipline her EA for a the hot mic issue? Really?

according to the Mayor... she can't. But she and the democratic town committee created Eurie Stamps day on his birthday and will create a scholarship at the high school in his name.

As long as Duncan is on the force, there will be no justice for Eurie Stamps or the rest of our community, of any color.

I have one question. Why did Duncan need a long gun assault rifle to enter the home of a retired MBTA driver with no criminal record?

This whole story is a travesty of justice and a big black mark on our city. Will the city just ignore this and hope no one knows about it or will they act like responsible adults and address this wonderful show by NECN?

SWAT does what SWAT does... there was no need to flash bang and battery ram doors as the suspects were already in custody out side the home. As you can hear, someone announced "abort" before they entered the home.

The city (Town) has tried to forget about this from the get go. And don't forget who was ultimately in charge of the police department back then... Charlie Sisitky and the Board of Selectmen. Remember when Chief Karl paraded the SWAT team in front of Town Meeting in their fatigues with their side arms strapped to their thighs?

Two things. Duncan does not seem to feel remorse at all when you listen to him speak or watch him testifying. And 2 did he ever apologize to the family in person?

Almost 10 years later and this story still has teeth and keeps Framingham in the news in a not very positive way. When will this story go away?

This story will “go away” when justice is served, which probably means never.

Duncan clearly violated his training. He was removed from the SWAT team the day after this event. Chief Karl says that he was removed because he “killed an innocent man”. But he was not fired from the FPD. So his killing an innocent man is not grounds to lose his job? WOW! What the hell were the Selectmen thinking not pushing for his removal when this all went down, and what is our current black mayor thinking in allowing him to stay employed and carry a gun?

Thanks for posting this Jim. I had heard nothing about this until I saw your post on FramGov. This is the kind of transparency we should have gotten from the town/city long before this. Thank you to NECN for doing this.

Answer this question honestly and it will tell you this was as bad as it sounds. Replace Mr. Stamps with any white resident of Framingham. Have the same thing happen. A police officer can’t stand on his own two feet without falling down and shoots that white resident laying on the ground in their own home. A resident who was not a suspect, and who had a clean record. What do you think would have happened to Duncan then? Perhaps he could have a new roommate in Derek Chauvin. And why exactly was Duncan unable to balance on his own two feet? No one bumped into him. No one knocked him down. He got called in from home after 11pm. He falls down while standing over someone holding a gun. Does anyone else share my concern about why he fell down?

Don’t get fooled into thinking that because we have a black mayor we do not have implicit bias here in Framingham. We most assuredly do. And this killing of an innocent black man with no consequences is a perfect example of that

If I were looking for a place to buy a home and raise a family and I was a person of color, because of stories like this, and people like the Rizolis, Framingham would not be on my list of communitites to consider. We, the city, need to change this narrative. What are our elected officials doing to make that change?

Come on people. Let's stop beating a dead horse here.

Enough already. This was fully investigated and it was determined that no charges should be brought. Let it go people

Off to Hopkinton where another death is being covered up

To those who are saying let this go, if it were your husband, or father, I suspect you would want to have someone held accountable for their death. I know I would, and just about everyone I know would. Try a little compassion here. You can not walk in their shoes but you can recognize their grief, can’t you?

Statute of limitations. The DA said that had run out on some of the potential charges. Anyone know what the statute of limitations is on murder/homicide or manslaughter?

How does the mayor have the nerve to show up to demand justice for Mikayla but will not do anything about Officer Duncan related to Mr. Stamps?

I agree about the Mayor

What are you expecting after almost 10 years? All the players are going to continue to circle their wagons and do nothing so they can protect themselves for the coverup done initially?

Anyone watching the finance subcommittee meeting? There are clearly pressing issues to deal with instead of spinning your wheels about a huge mistake made almost 10 years ago. Nothing will bring Mr Stamps back. Let’s talk about things we can fix

Shameful that someone thinks the murder of an innocent man is not something we should be trying to address. We have set up an employment pattern where serious mistakes have no employment consequences. If we don't change that HR pattern what is to prevent us from having a tragedy like this happen again?
