Medal of honor recipient retired Col. Ralph Puckett Jr

This weekend is Memorial Day and Framingham will not be holding any services. While many public events are now open at a limited crowd size, we are doing nothing to pay tribute to those who have given their lives for our country. The VSO and his assistant are leaving soon at the same time. Not sure how the administration is going to make sure benefits are going to be continued but hopefully the COO will come up with a plan.

Last week the President awarded the medal of honor to retired Col. Ralph Puckett Jr., for his actions as a first lieutenant and the Eighth Army Ranger Company commander during the Korean conflict Nov. 25-26, 1950. His story is amazing and is worth a watch.

Korean war veterans often say they are the forgotten but Col Ralph Puckett at least was not.

Why isn't the city doing something? This could be done outside.

Any idea why both veterans agents are leaving at the same time?

I don't have a clue on why they both would leave at the same time but it does look suspicious. I don't believe they were overworked.

The Administration made the call a while back while we were still a red zone I believe.
But other cities like Worcester are doing something. Your right, outside like we used to do them would be fine by me.

I think it was great for POTUS to honor his service after all these years. And after reading Col Puckett's story, one can feel good about how we as a nation honor those brave souls who served.

Some interesting facts on our Korean Veterans.
More than 5.7 million Americans served during the Korean War, and today there are still approximately over 2.25 million Korean war veterans still alive.
There are an estimated 3.9 million Korean War veterans in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, down about 21 percent from the nearly 5 million Korean War veterans in 1990. Korean War veterans make up nearly 16 percent of the 24.4 million total veterans.
