 From the MWDN 7.9.23: https://www.metrowestdailynews.com/story/news/politics/elections/2023/07/07/cesar-stewart-morales-will-not-seek-reelection-framingham-ma-city-council/70384713007/

Long time not hearing from you here. Hope all is well. Thanks for this concise breakdown of the upcoming elections. Interesting to see so many running unopposed given how much we hear people complaining about the current group of those elected to office. Do you think they all figure the Steffanini group has enough members to run the show so why bother? Plus they are vicious and dishonest when they have an opponent who would stand a chance of beating a sitting councilor or school committee member. We need a lot of changes here in the Ham if we have any hope of becoming a respectable community again. I get a kick out of them touting the fireworks as if that makes people forget about the bigot appointed to the agricultural committee who had the support of the mayor and the majority of the council.

Back issues have interfered with everything I do for the past several months. Had a back injection yesterday and things are looking up. I too am surprised at the lack of opposition the the status quo. I wonder if John will go to bat for Noval and his campaign finance issues. The fire works, like the Christmas tree from Cushing and now we learned the private parade Charlie and his angles pulled off was not a parade, but a promenade. All a bunch of smoke Sounds Putinesk to me. I wonder if the league of women voters will do anything this year
I'll be interested to hear what ideas or platforms the challengers present as most if not all just look to have pictures with the mayor.
And not, not one of the challengers have mentioned body-cams.

I think people are just bored of the city's political nonsense and they have b igger things to worry about and better things to do. Let the pretenders play the game of government and think they're more important than they are, because nobody really cares any more.

You could be right. Voters are vacationing and trying to stay cool. Indictments and war detract us from our own back yard.

From the MWDN: There will be a primary run-off in Sept for D9 seat. Tracey Bryant will defend her seat against Pratt Street resident Jose Ferreira and South Street resident Albert Chimeno. Ferguson noted that candidates have until Aug. 2 to withdraw; if any in the District 9 City Council race does so, there will be no preliminary election.

From the MWDN: A series of withdrawals has resulted in all nine School Committee candidates running unopposed. The deadline for qualified candidates to withdraw from the ballot was Aug. 2.

In District 1, Ricardo Robles will be the only candidate on the ballot, after Jordan Bonner withdrew. Robles, a Fox Creek Lane resident, is seeking to fill a spot that was vacated with the June resignation of Beverly Hugo, who moved out of Framingham.

In District 3, incumbent Jennifer Moshe was set to be challenged by Jamaris Godino, but Godino withdrew from the race last month.

In District 5, current committee member Priscila Sousa is not seeking re-election after being elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives last year. Three candidates returned nomination papers —Judy Styer, Cheryl Gordon and Ernest Moreau — but Gordon and Moreau have each withdrawn from the race. That leaves Styer, former director of health and wellness for Framingham Public Schools, as the only candidate.
