Heckling the President

Watching Obama last night..... and hearing the "Liar" comment thrown out by a R from S. Carolina leads me to believe, no other subject to date has created such anger and disrespect as this health care reform debates.

We've entered into 4 wars, financial calamity, huge budget deficits, bail outs by the bucket loads and no one is calling the President a liar in joint session. Just talking about health care reform is bad for civility.

Free speech gives the President the right to get up in front of Congress and the nation and speak his mind and voice his opinions, regardless of what that is. Free speech gives the people the right to respond to and disagree with what the President says regardless of the fact he is the President. Common courtesy and decency tells us that all people excercising their right to free speech should be treated respectfully, even those we disagree with or find offensive. This heckler is clearly excercising the rights our Constitution give him to free speach, but he just as clearly lacks common decency. Lets hope his constituents don’t forget that come election time.

from CNN... the rules of Congress may have been violated last night and Mr. Williams has called to apologize.

We haven't heard the last of this one.

That loser should be censored. A public speech talking about the time for bickering being over and this loser shows the worse side of American politicians for all the world to see. I hope he loses his seat and sinks into political oblivion.

I just heard this guy has raised $200,000 in contributions since he heckled the President. That is dispicable. The american people should be ashamed of themselves. On a day like today, when we should all be proud to be Americans, and honoring those we lost on that fateful day 8 yrs ago, people are paying someone for being disrespectful. Every day I am less and less proud of this country. Our boys are fighting for the rights of idoits who were never taught any manners by their parents. We should hang our heads in shame over this, instead, we reward this guy. What are you people thinking.

Appalling breach of ethics. This man should take every single penny raised on his web site for “defense” of his heckling and use it to better the lives of people in need. The kids living in a car or under a bridge in Boston have more decency, respect, and common courtesy than this heckler does. I would ground my child for being disrespectful to someone speaking in public. This man gets rewarded. Something is very, very, very wrong with the mentality of this country and its citizens, very wrong.

Free speech at work. Our boy’s die on battle fields to give this moron the right to heckle the President of the United States. Explain the value of that to the parent’s of one of those dead soldiers, explain to them that their child did not die in vain, and this member of Congress is an example of what they gave their child’s life for. I am sure that will make them feel much better.
