2.6.18 Council Meeting

The sound in the room was very bad. This condition is a cary-over from Town Meeting that has persited for over 10 years. On replay, one can hear the new mics drop out while people are speaking. I have e mailed the Mayor, Ron Rego (Gov TV) and Dennis G asking her to fix the problem before the next meeting.
The pot issue came up and I was so saddened to hear some of the comments from the Council. A few of them haven't a clue and have been influenced by lies, mis-information and propaganda. Richardson wants a moratorium for more time to do what?, Judy Grove is afraid of mold and house fires... what next?
I made 11 copies of the current draft of the rules and regs (cannabis commission) for the cannabis business and gave them to the council, which they had never seen... reminds me of Town Meeting.
The lawyer who researched the paths going forward left out many crucil items in her presntation. And this war will continue to the 20th.

On another note, there were three x candidates for council sitting close to my location. They talked almost the entire time, along with texting. Another reminder of Town Meeting where people just did not listen.

from Carly Melo at City Hall, she oversee's Gov TV

The City of Framingham hired Adtech Systems, an audiovisual provider, for the design, installation and programming of a new sound system for the Blumer Community room. The final design was agreed to and the order was placed the first week of December. Since that time Adtech has continually delayed the installation citing failure to receive all the system components from the manufacture. After repeated pressure from numerous City staff members and Council Chair Giombetti, Adtech scheduled a February 1st install date to meet the February 6th City Council meeting deadline.

On Friday, February 2nd, the Adtech installation crew informed us that some important equipment had still not been received. In an attempt to allow us to use the new microphones they temporarily configured the new system with some existing equipment scheduled to be removed. This clearly did not work and was the primary cause of many of the problems we experienced during last night’s meeting.

We have been in touch Anthony Leto, the project manager from Adtech, who is scheduled to return tomorrow morning to complete the integration. Adtech has confirmed that they have the remaining equipment and will ensure that these tools work to meet our needs.

We understand the frustration this has caused and are confident that future City Council meetings will meet the expectations of all participants, residents and viewers.

Thank you,
Carly

Norton, Sousa and the sound guy from the Concerts on the Green... forgot his name. I spoke to all three when I was leaving. They got the message. It amazes me how people who go to meetings want to just talk or play on the computer during the proceedings. Not unlike TM used to be. Certain people just can't listen.
