New live Show.. The League of Women Voters Framingham presents

The Framingham League of Women Voters (LWV) is taking to the airwaves with our new monthly show, State of the City. In partnership with Access Framingham, the League will do a live 30 minute show once a month, starting on Sunday, February 18th, at 7pm, which can be seen on your local access station (RCN: Channel 3; Comcast: Channel 9; Verizon: Channel 43). We will be taking calls from viewers who may have questions for our guests. Jim Pillsbury, Voters Services Chair for the Framingham LWV, and the producer of Jim Pillsbury Live on Access Framingham will be hosting "State of the City". Guests for our first show will be Sue Bernstein, former member of the Planning Committee, and Mary Kate Feeney who was Chairwoman of Framingham First, a group that campaigned for the establishment of the Charter Commission. We will be talking about the process of changing our form of government, and some of the issues that have been of interest to residents as this process moves forward.
“This is a great opportunity for the LWV here in Framingham to meet our goal of reaching residents of the city to keep them informed about what is happening with their government. The ability to participate from home makes it available to just about everyone in Framingham. This will be a friendly and informative 30 minute show once a month with guests who can help us understand the issues of concern to residents” says Pillsbury.
The League of Women Voters is a citizens’ organization that has fought since 1920 to improve our government and engage all citizens in the decisions that impact their lives. The centerpiece of the League’s efforts is to expand participation and give a voice to all Americans. Today, the League of Women Voters continues to be a respected and trusted voice for citizen participation in our democracy. Our non-partisan policy and reputation for fair, unbiased and equitable forums make our events the benchmark others strive for.To hear more about the Framingham LWV, join us for our next meeting being held on Monday, February 26th at 7pm at the McAuliffe Branch Library on Water Street. Saw your show Jim. Which of the City Council people have not disclosed who is the employer that pays them? It was talked about on the show but I didn't hear anyone say who specifically this was referring to.

Jim, do they have to disclose that information or is it optional? The council was making an issue of out the mayor disclosing all the people who applied for the licensing committee, and made a big issue about the possible financial conflicts with lawyer who was picked. So are you saying these same people are not disclosing basic financial information about themselves? It sounds like Do as I say, Not as I Do.

Why isn't the The Source or the paper writing about this?

So how do we make them disclose this information? Seems that if they want transparancey from the Mayor the should set the example themselves.

I've done what I can... spoke with Cannon.. wrote to Dennis.
You can't shame them into anything.. but it will come up at some point
and they will be regretting not posting ALL the info on themselves.

The source is very selective in what they publish.. not unlike the MWDN. They just as soon, not rock any boat.. because after all, all of the media sources will want a story line.

Jim, you say that they haven't posted all the info on themselves. Where is any of this information posted? How does a citizen get to see what the councilors disclosed? Is there more than employer information that hasn't been disclosed?

Jim these are just profiles - presumably the councilors could put in there what they wanted.

What are they legally required to do? Do they have to document their employment information under the new rules of the Charter - maybe on some type of official form? Or is this only relevant at election time in terms of how much was a councilor willing to disclose to the voting public?
