Andy Rose suggests 3 story buildings instead of 4
I didn't get to go to that meeting on Monday, but according to the MWDN, Mr. Rose has suggested lowering the height of the rear apartment building to 3 stories and 3 story building along Water Street along with 11k sf of retail on the ground level which would be 30 feet from Water Street. All toll, 152 units of housing. CVS will be a stand alone store on the corner of Water and Edgell and the church moves to where the old gas station was.
The Planning Board and city council must accept the new zoning regs first. Our lives will be forever changed by this proposal if approved.
From Ms. Vasser at FramLove: The planning board last night said they are opposed to downsizing further the proposed Nobscot Village District. Also opposed to changing the proposed
Nobscot Village by law.
You can watch the meeting using this link - discussion re Nobscot was at the end apparently under Members reports. People can make up their own minds but I heard several remarks that were factually incorrect. The Nobsot discussion starts at 1:58:20.

3 stories is better than 4 but it still sucks. The traffic there will be a mess especially during school drop off and pick up times. Has a traffic study been done and if so where can we see the findings of that study?
I don't remember the Planning Board asking for a traffic study there in the past. Rose indicates that there would be more traffic with stores in the plaza. My guess would be 152 apartments would mean, at least 300 hundred cars when fully occupied. Major gridlock at that intersection, morning and mid afternoon, no matter how wide it will be imo.
So the builder gets to dictate the traffic situation and the city just lets him do that? Seems like the city is falling down on the job here to have not looked into this. Especially given the big deal they have made about traffic around pot shops. You can bet your bottom dollar that if one of the retail establishments going in to this new development were a pot shop the city would have demanded a traffic study be done and the shop owner pay for it. But god forbid we ask that loser Rose to pay for one given his proposal. Just not fair.
This whole process has been a cluster f*** and has shown the lack of knowledge and experience of our new city government. This guy held the town hostage for years and years and looks like he is now just barreling over the city and getting what he wants. What the hell is wrong with us, this development is going to impact negatively every single person who lives or commutes on Water St,and that is a lot of people.
Is this a done deal? Can we go to these planning board meetings and ask them for a traffic report and do they have to give it to us if enough of us ask
Have you seen what they did in the other empty plaza? Those building are practically built on the street. Who the heck would want to live that close to the road? Is the same thing going to happen with this development?
Blah, blah, blah. We can complain and bitch all we want but it won't make a difference. They mayor does not listen and planning board does not care. This is a done deal like it or not
Mt. Wayne looks HORRIBLE! They should have left it a deserted plaza, or just let them build a few houses on it. For the city voters, you wanted a city - well you are getting an URBAN CITY.
Rose indicated that the apartments on Water Street would be set back 30'. Those at Mt Wayte are just a few feet from the street. Urban development is right. I'll check to see if the Planning Board will request a traffic study. I'm assuming that underground parking will have to be at the complex.
I'm not sure it's a done deal.. yet.
Underground parking? Had not heard about that. Doesn't that involve blowing up the ground to get down that deep? What process will that involve and how will it impact everything around it?
What the hell was Giombetti smokin when he thought that disaster going in at Mount Wayte was a good idea?
he wasn't smoking anything I grew last year.
I'm assuming parking for 300 cars may not fit above ground (maybe a parking garage) and all those apartments buildings as well. I may be wrong about that.
Well you know he wasn't buying any!
