GateHouse News is now Gannet

The not great news comes for the Globe Business reporter Jon Chesto. He is sounding the alarm over this merger with Gate House who owns 15 dailies in a six state region including papers in Worcester, Providence, Portsmouth NH, Fall River Quincy and Framingham and dozens of weeklies. The new company will control over 260 dailies across 47 states.

As we here in Framingham have seen first hand, our editorial staff was eliminated along with long time beat and political reporters. We just recently lost Jim Haddadin. Nothing against the millennial's who now are reporters, but these young people have zero background here and even less knowledge of what has gone on here in the 3 decades or so. The new company will be laying off more reporters and consolidating as the new CEO has promised investors cutting 275 to 300 million a year in savings.
None of this news will help keep an eye on the elected elite who would get away with all types of criminal behavior if it were not for the print media.

I can't imagine what jobs would be cut at the paper.
