Who.. is considering a run?

Stephen Pagliuca - who only weeks ago made a bid to buy the Boston Globe - is “seriously considering,” a darkhorse bid to run for the late U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy’s vacated seat, according to a source close to the Weston Democrat.

Pagliuca’s wild card entry into the race would raise deep doubts as to whether he’ll purchase the Morrissey Boulevard broadsheet. It would also shake up a race currently dominated by well-known, experienced pols such as Attorney General Martha Coakley.

“There is a role for a credible alternative in this race,” said a source who’s discussed the campaign with Pagliuca. “He’s someone who brings a lot of experience on the economy and health care.”

A challenger to Coakley.... he certainly has the money to play, the question is, does a novice belong in the Senate to fill Ted's chair? I can't imagine what left winger would vote for him over Coakley

I have to say I would vote for any democrat over Coakley. I think many feel the same way. We need to give the dems an alternative to her. Someone with some sort of established credibility has got to step up and run. She is a joke.

In the field of choices Coakley is the only one worth supporting. What do these others bring to the table anyway?

Do you support any of the candidates currently running in the election to fill this seat Jim? Give us some insight on who they are and what your take on their platforms is. They all seem like bad choices to me but we need to have a second senator so who would you say is the best choice in the mix? Personally I like that fact that Pagliuca is an outsider but maybe that is not a good enough reason to vote for him. Your thoughts on this Jim?

Pagliuca is certainly the outsider with lots of money. He worked with Bain Associates, the very same place Romney worked at and has contributed to both D's and R's in big ways. I wonder though if a true outsider will arouse the voters or be cast aside for someone more Ted like.

Capuano has already been cited for attending a fund raiser for an elected official who is chairmen of a committee Capuano is on.

Coakley has been endorsed by the carpenters union and it's my guess, all law enforcement will back her along with most state employee's.

Scott Brown for the R's has a long road to travel along with the guy from Canton.

I've read that one gentlemen from Holliston wants to run for Ted's seat as an Independent.

It boils down to which D would help Obama's platform and it's my guess, it's not Coakley. As much as I'd love to see an independent in the Senate, Capuano is the only candidate that has the same Kennedy like message and the will to fight for it.

Look for plenty of digging by the press and the competitors in each primary.... these want-to-be's have skeletons in their closet and before to long, we will see more than a few.

On a interesting side bar issue, one of Joe Kennedy's twins may run for Capuano's seat if he gets to the Senate.

Who said the legacy is over.

You raise some valid points in your take on the candidates. I think those skeletons in the closet will play a big part in who does win the election. My hope is that some of the skeletons in Coakley’s closet come crashing out, but something tells me she will scare the media into not reporting on any they do fine. Something about that woman I just don’t trust.

Kennedy legacy not over. I have to say I hope that is true. Would be nice to see someone elected who truly does stand up for the underdog. Does not bother me if they make money doing it, the fact that they do it is what matters to me. Hope Joe’s twins have that same drive to be a “do gooder” that Ted had. That term “do gooder” has a negative connotation now a days. I remember when it was a compliment. I think we need to go back to those days.
