John McCain a true American hero

Our country has lost a man who stood for something, had principals and was not afraid of anything, including dying.  He will never be replaced by anyone. May he rest in peace.

From Wikipedia

John Sidney McCain III (August 29, 1936 – August 25, 2018) was an American politician and naval officer who served as a United States Senator from Arizona from 1987 until his death. He previously served two terms in the United States House of Representatives and was the Republican nominee for President of the United States in the 2008 election, which he lost to Barack Obama.
McCain graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1958 and followed his father and grandfather—both four-star admirals—into the U.S. Navy. He became a naval aviator and flew ground-attack aircraft from aircraft carriers. During the Vietnam War, he was almost killed in the 1967 USS Forrestal fire. While on a bombing mission during Operation Rolling Thunder over Hanoi in October 1967, McCain was shot down, seriously injured, and captured by the North Vietnamese. He was a prisoner of war until 1973. McCain experienced episodes of torture and refused an out-of-sequence early repatriation offer. The wounds that he sustained during the war left him with lifelong physical disabilities. He retired from the Navy as a captain in 1981 and moved to Arizona, where he entered politics. In 1982, McCain was elected to the United States House of Representatives, where he served two terms. He entered the U.S. Senate in 1987 and easily won reelection five times, the last time in 2016.

AN amazing man who put country first, before everything, including politics. We as a country need to recognize this man for what he was, and call out our sitting president for what he is, a man who bought his way out of military service, and who refuses to acknowledge that a man who served his country, and was a POW for 5 years, is a far better man than the president is.

And to make matters even worse.. Trump has the Flag back at full mask over the White House. Each and every Veteran in this country should be outraged, no matter what branch or level of service they were in. You can contact the White House via:
https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/ and while you'll be on a mailing list, the first message you get, you can unsubscribe from the list.
Sen that SOB a message denouncing his despicable action.

Are you kidding about the flag at the White House? I am a veteran, and I will write to make my thoughts on this action by the president known. I urge all my fellow veterans, and all people who value the service our veterans do for our nation and our people, to do that same.

This man, Senator John McCain, is the perfect example of why the POW flag is so important. It is not just about those missing in action. It is in honor of those who were held as POWs, men like John McCain. We should never forget what they endured for our country. Thanks Jim for your efforts in the past to make sure the POW flag continues to fly here in Framingham

And now this from the White House.. it just gets uglier every hour that passes.

Your daily reminder that Trump can’t even get the basics of the presidency right …

Hours after John McCain’s death, several White House staffers wanted to issue a statement praising McCain for his lifetime of service. But Trump vetoed it.

Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Chief of Staff John F. Kelly and other White House aides advocated for an official statement that gave the decorated Vietnam War POW plaudits for his military and Senate service and called him a “hero,” according to current and former White House aides, who requested anonymity to discuss sensitive internal deliberations. The original statement was drafted before McCain died Saturday, and Sanders and others edited a final version this weekend that was ready for the president, the aides said.

But Trump told aides he wanted to post a brief tweet instead, and the statement praising McCain’s life was not released.

All you need to know is that virtually everyone who counts in this administration—Pence, Pompeo, Nielsen, Mattis, Bolton, DeVos, Conway, Sanders, among others—posted statements of praise to McCain by sunset. But Trump couldn’t put his grudges aside long enough to do so. Instead, most of his Twitter activity has been a steady stream of “look at me, listen to me, look what I’ve done.”

We have an empty shell of a man in the White House. And this is yet more proof.

I just got this back from the White House... Mr President... I'd like to do more reaching out.. like across your face.

Thank you for contacting the White House. We are carefully reviewing your message.

President Donald J. Trump believes the strength of our country lies in the spirit of the American people and their willingness to stay informed and get involved. President Trump appreciates you taking the time to reach out.

Sincerely,

The Office of Presidential Correspondence

What a warm and fuzzy response from a cold and bristly excuse for a man.

Shame on you Mr. President. Sen. McCain was more of a man than you can ever hope to be

I have not been out so curious. Are flags in Framingham at half staff? In MA? Or do we have to do what the White House is doing and not lower the flags in honor of Sen. McCain?

Good question.. I'll make my rounds and report back.

There are few heroes who are also politicians. McCain may have been the last of them. He should be honored the same as any other veteran or Senator who dies, and that includes respect from the Commander and Chief. By his actions in the last 48 hours, he he clearly proven he does not deserve to hold that title.

I mean the president does not deserve to hold the title of Commander and Chief!

So the flags are at half staff at the Nobscot fir house, the Common and the Town Hall. I suspect, between COO Keezer, a former National Guard brass and Jim Palini, they took care of business.

Good to know that Framingham is doing the right thing despite the president setting the wrong example.

It is a testimony to the type of man John McCain was that the two people he asked to do eulogies for him are the two men who beat him when he ran for president. John McCain was an honorable man. You did not have to agree with his politics, but he deserves the respect of our nation because of the life he lived and the examples he set. Our president could have learned a lot from McCain, but our president seems to think he knows more than everyone else so he never listens to anyone. A wise man seeks council. Guess our president is not such a wise man

Breaking news from CNN.. under intense pressure, Trump has lowered the flag over the White House to half staff...Thanks to anyone who wrote the White House. As requested by McCain, Trump is not invited to John McCains funeral.

The second funeral Trump has not been invited to Add that to his not being invited to the recent royal wedding and you see a pattern here. If Spence is the one showing up all the time at these events to represent the president, maybe he should be the president? Think its time to impeach the bastard?

It's way past time to impeach... but I'll let stormy Daniels and the Playboy Bunny do that for us.

Watching the first McCain funeral is just gut wrenching. So many people adored him for his entire life.
