The latest MERC publication

For those who love to read numbers about our community and surrounding towns, the MERC (MetroWest Economic Research Center) just published the fall 2018 assessment of 10 different categories, ranging from cost of living compared to Boston, Metro West is not far behind in that category. Housing is the major factor there. In employment, Framingham generated 49,700 jobs in 2017. In higher education, there are more foreign born Phd's than there are for the natives, but more natives who have a professional degrees. Wages, we are third behind Hopkinton and Southborough. And the foreign born population where by most of the kids who are under 14 are native, the majority who are from 25 to 64 are foreign born, Over 65 are mostly natives.

It's clear as a bell Framingham is and has been the driving economic force in metro west. This is a free publication and is easily downloaded from their site. Worth the read if you are into facts and figures.
