The frozen tundra..How about our roads?
It's not clear that the DPW did the best they could to prevent what is on our secondary roads now. Road crews left at corners (like Yorks and Fenwick) lots of snow that has frozen into hard road obstacles. Roads like Anderson are rut filled, ice covered, rocky road type driving. Even at slow slow speed you can feel the front end rattle. Everyone knew the hard freeze was coming and late Sunday afternoon would have been the time for all out full court press with all hands on deck to clear whatever snow there was on the streets. I've been north and south side and into Natick and must admit, all secondary roads i drove on were in bad shape. I understand they also do the sidewalks and there may be some reason why they couldn't have done a better job on the streets Sunday afternoon. I'm wondering if DPW didn't have enough man-power on Sunday? While others seem to be willing to claim they did a great job, I wonder if everyone else thinks so as well. I'll ask the our rep.

Glad to see someone raise this question. All the city puppets have been singing the praise for the job the city did plowing the streets. Not sure what streets they are talking about, but other than the main roads it is a mess around my area. I get a kick out of all these wannabes posting about the great job our DPW did. Aren't they paid to do that job? These posters act like they have gone above and beyond. In my opinion, they did a lousy job and I would like to know why.
I agree... I've asked Mike Cannon for an answer from Peter Sellers. Were they (DPW) caught off guard? I didn't see the usual contractor trucks plowing either. I may ask in a FOIA requests how many employee's called in sick on Sunday, if I can't get to the bottom of this. Tomorrow there may be a huge flooding problem not caused by beavers in certain parts of Town.
Hey Jimbo, if you don't like how the roads were plowed now, consider what they would have looked like had the other person won the mayor spot. I remember him making a number of comments about did people want Framingham to be known for how well it plowed its streets. It was clear that that service was not a top priority to him.
Thanks for the heads up Jim on what Cannon's bitch of the week will be at the next council meeting.
I think the roads in Framingham are no better or worse than anywhere else. The annoying thing is the clueless people who are posting what a great job they did. Talk about fake news!
I think your question is the right one and that is why did they not do a better job? We have a right to expect better. My wife fell on the street when she went to get the mail because the street is covered with packed snow and ice and is very slippery. I know it was an ice storm but they had plenty of notice and I am wondering why they did not treat the side roads at all. At the end of my street before turning onto Central street there is a mush of piles that the plows left and now they are frozen solid. That should not have been left like that and it seems I see a lot of streets in Framingham looking that way
THIS MORNING THE RAIN AND WARMER TEMPERATURES WILL DO THE JOB OUR DPW FAILED TO DO AND GET RID OF THE RUTS FROM THE POOR PLOWING JOB AND THOSE PILES AT THE END OF STREETS WHERE A PLOW GOING ONE WAY LEFT A MESS AND NO ON BOTHERED TO CLEAN IT UP LEAVING RESIDENTS TO TRY AND FIGURE OUT HOW NOT TO GET STUCK
Friday update on why the roads were in such bad shape: There's none. I have to presume, the people with the questions have been ignored and the people with the answers have been told to keep quiet... IMO. Nothing yet from Mr. Cannon
I did hear through the grape vine, that Myrna Road was a single lane, like many other side streets on Sunday.
So now all is forgotten, it was close to 60 degrees yesterday and much of the snow and ice are now gone.
Lets hope we don't have any snow on Superbowl Sunday.
