Pot shop meeting at the Elks
Last night the owners of that ugly building at 250 Worcester road explained to a hand full of residents what their plan was to mediate traffic and parking. The owners, Cultivate) the same people who own the Leicester site, will require customers make an appointment to shop there. In 15 minute blocks. This same system works well in Newton and other places and should regulate the amount of customers at one time. It's clear from listening to the resident questions that there's not enough valid information getting to the neighbors.Of coarse Ms. Grove was there with her own brand of reefer madness over traffic and parking. And so was M. Cannon who is against this site for neighborhood concerns, like property values going down.
My question is, when will the councilman stand up for these businesses that want to set up shop? After all, these companies have agreed to pay the town 3% of their sales in a tax to the town AND
3% (hopefully no more) of their sales in a host agreement. What other industry is forced to pay 3% of their sales to the Town? What other industry will for ever contribute to the Town's bottom line?
Side bar: It appears that every Town and City that has signed a host agreement has demanded over 3% for the host agreement. This violates the intent of the ballot question and as of now, if any Town is caught demanding more money, the application to the State will be rejected. There is talk about the legislature getting involved, but that could take years. A few members of the CCC have said the language is clear and the CCC has the authority to review the host agreements for host payments, but the majority feel it's up to the legislature.

oops sorry... the Cannabis Control Commission
I say we should get as much money as we can from these businesses why leave money on the table?
Some day this will just be another business. I hope to live to see that day
