B3 Zoning approved for Nobscot by planning board

So the public comment period is over, the planning board voted to send the proposed by-law changes to the Council.  I see no reason why any of them would vote it down... unless.. a majority of the area residents took a stand against 150 apartments, with retail. That intersection will only get harder to get trough during some parts of the day and night.

The plan to save and move the church by local resident Rick McKenna was jected by the City. I would assume now that the zoning change was passed, the owner (Andy Rose) may well have a green light to save the chapel.

Nobscot resident Rick McKenna had a vision of re-purposing the historic Nobscot Chapel into a modern day trading post, cafe, and community meeting center.
He submitted a proposal to the City of Framingham, of which he found out last week, the City rejected.
“It is with great disappointment that I announce that the city has once again rejected our proposal to save, restore and repurpose the Nobscot Chapel. Our Tippling Rock Trading Post proposal, in our opinion, answered the community’s desire for a locally owned and operated café, market and meeting place—a supposed necessity for a successful transition to a pedestrian friendly, walkable village center,” said McKenna on Sunday, Feb. 17.

By the 25th of this month, Rose must accept the agreement to move the church without any stipulations on zoning changes. But the Planning Board has already given the thumbs up to new zoning a thumbs up and it will now be sent to the council for their approval sometime after the 25th I believe.

So this sounds like it is a done deal. What was the reason McKenna's proposal was rejected?

a few grand according to the paper and the fact that Rose will do what he wants with the plaza had something to do with that as well.

have a looksee at the council meeting last night about the Nobscot Church bid. It really gets going at 2:41.00, highlights are: council knows nothing of the task force assembled by the mayor to deal with the church move, It's Pam's district and don't you forget it George King, Pam is upset, and more odd things like, the council wants the Mayor to come in and talk about the Nobscot plaza... now, after the years of meetings. And it was pointed out that the council has no say over what happens with the church, other than to reject the entire deal with Rose. Another meeting at Heritage about the plaza and church move. But I don't see any major deviations in the plan. The planning board has all but given their approval, the City wants to widen that corner and the church must move before hand. I just don't see any of them standing against this project.

The planning board is keeping public comment open until the March meeting. At tomorrow night's planning board meeting, the city engineers will present a traffic study. The meeting at heritage is scheduled for the same time tomorrow night.

Give the church to no one, tear it down. Don't give the parcel to anybody. Make the needed road improvements. No giving in to Rose. He's crapped on the area for too long, he should not earn any spoils for it. Start looking at blight laws and if there are better ways to value commercial property instead of the garbage way we do it now and see if the city can get more taxes out him.

Holy crap! When did Richardson grow a pair? Whether she thought the council was playing another one of their games, she was going to have none of it. The mouse that roared!

I agree...she's ready to throw down with any of them. I don't remember when and how it was announced. And not open to the public. Already sounds sketchy.
I hope she shows up tomorrow night.
