The State Police scandal is worse than we were told
Our friend Matt Rocheleau from the Globe has uncovered more disbursing facts around the OT scandal at the State Police. He reports today that former Trooper Daren DeJong who plead guilty in 2106 for embezzling 14K are now saying he stole another 63K.
If our readers remember the lost or destroyed boxes of records that the SP said were gone have unveiled more and more time sheet and OT abuse. Although the officer has already plead guilty, the new revaluations might be used in his sentencing coming up soon.
The officer will be stripped of his pension and be made to pay back all of the money he stole from taxpayers. But you can count on reading more about more officers in the near future with the discovery of thousands of related records that were not destroyed.
On the same page... X Trooper Lt David Wilson was sentenced to 2 years of probation, 200 of community service and pay back 19K which is above the 12K that he already was made to pay back for his conviction on federal charges of OT theft.
The 32 year officer who retired in March after receiving a 80K buyout will loose his pension of 105K a year.

When will this end. I am beginning to think every dam state police officer is a criminal
We are becoming immune to this fiasco, just as we are becoming immune to our presidents illegal behavior. People in power influence the actions of others. When we teach our children to respect and obey cops, and our children see the news about cops stealing from all of us taxpayers, what message is that sending to our kids?
From the Globe Matt Rocheleau:
Federal Judge Mark Wolf ordered prosecutors to dig deeper into the over-time fraud case against MSP. "There are many facts that suggest Trooper DeJong's criminal conduct in this case was part of a conspiracy".
DeJong has already been convicted is awaiting sentencing.
I almost dropped to the floor when I heard newly appointed Colonel Mason wants to fire 22 more troopers. I'm very sure my favorite Globe reporter Matt Rocheleau will have a more expanded version shortly.
From the Patch
The head of the Massachusetts State Police wants to see the termination of 22 more State Troopers related to an ever-unfolding overtime scandal.
Col. Chris Mason told reporters Friday morning he is seeking the termination of the troopers, who were notified of his intentions Thursday. The decision comes as a result of an internal review, Mason said.
Forty-six troopers overall were involved in the scandal, the review showed. Ten have been criminally charged for getting pay for overtime shifts they didn't work.
Fourteen of the remaining 36 troopers have retired.
Some troopers face the possibility of forfeiting their pensions, Mason said.
The overtime scandal resulted in the 2018 disbandment of Troop E. Since then, more than a dozen implicated troopers have retired, with some pleading guilty to criminal charges.
