A Major win for voters around the country

Whether you watched all the past Presidential debates or not, you may have recalled over the years, third party candidates were always barred from the debate stage. Regardless of party, most voters who pay attention to the debates would rather have seen ALL the qualified candidates. Up till now, the  Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) made sure through various ways the 2 main Parties would be the only ones voters saw. A US District Court ruled yesterday against the Federal Election Commission (FEC) the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) is rigged in favor of the Republicans and Democrats.
It's anyone's guess if the two candidates that were bared from the debates would have changed the election results. As it was Johnson had gathered more votes than most would have predicted, even though very few saw and heard him, even with the Aleppo gaff.

Why did it take so long for this to be decided? Haven't these same issues existed in previous elections?

This goes back a ways "Organized by the group Level the Playing Field, which sprung out of the failed 2012 third party effort "Americans Elect" and backed by multi-millionaire financier Peter Ackerman, the lawsuit includes both the Green Party and Libertarian National Committee. It comes as the American public is more dissatisfied with the traditional party system than ever before, and the prospects for fixing it are especially dim".

But if the group does not appeal, the ruling will stand. Trump has already made hios intentions clear for 2020,, but this time around, there will be more of a long term effort among the third parties to field good popular candidates. The debate stage will no longer just be left and right.

The playing field will never be leveled as long as we continue to support a two party system. But if anyone has done anything to make that 2 party system less attractive, it is our current president. He took the republican nomination away from traditional republicans showing that someone who does not play by their parties rules can win an election in this country. About time this happened
