thanks for that point.. it looks bad now for some reason.

The City is in litigation involving 21 cases.
8 are with cops and cop unions.
8 are zoning, planning board, ZBA and ConCom related
our own Deb Butler
the Purdue Pharma lawsuit
Mary Dennison
and two are miscellaneous.

8 litigations from the police department? Yet that report we paid that huckster $25,000 to do says we are not in bad shape? Seems like a pretty big disconnect to me. And what is the deal with 8 law suites for planning, ZBA? Is this typical of other cities of our size or are we an outlier? I hear them screaming all the time about the cost of the Butler lawsuits. Funny they never mention those 16 other suits and what they cost the city.

Other places is a good question.
I wouldn't guess... it may be more common with communities who try their best to slow down or stop certain development, but I'll look into it.
The big number is the cops imo. Are these leftovers from the Ferguson era? I think many are at least a few years old now. I remember ranting on this point at Town Meeting..

to much time on my hands.
It's on the agenda page for an executive session at this weeks Council meeting.

why executive session? Since our tax dollars pay for these lawsuits why can't we know what is going on? What happened to the mayors claim she would be "transparent" in all things?

I think when it comes to litigation, neither side wants the public to know whats really going on. And I'm almost sure, if we knew the circumstances around some of the cases, we'd be outraged.
I've written to Mike Cannon and asked him to inquire about the number of Framingham employees who are suing us seem to never go down.

I think we should all write to our DCs and ask that question. We have a right to know why there is so much litigation being filed by people paid by the organization they are suing.
