Friendly reminder: Stop flushing all those disinfectant wipes down the toilet
At a DPW meeting last year, the Chief engineer informed the council that these disinfectant wipes are causing trouble with the pumping stations. As I recall, they added some sort of shredder to the plumbing to avoid clogs. The post below is from Quincy DPW and stands as a reminder to all of us in the Ham who are using products that are not degradable and can cost homeowners big money for a plumber to fix.

“The Quincy Department of Public Works implores you to
throw (disinfectant wipes) in the trash, not in the toilet, because even the
‘flush-able’ ones really aren't and the last thing you'd want at a time like
this is the embarrassment of having to explain to a plumber why your pipes
are clogged - or being the wipe that broke the camel's back and completely
jammed up a nearby sewer main.”
Obviously, this
applies to everyone across our great commonwealth, not just those in Quincy.
