One FPD memeber tested positive... 8 are under quarantine
I'm surprised that the BOH or the Mayor didn't put this info out.
From the MWDN:
One local police officer has tested positive for the coronavirus and there
are eight in all under quarantine, Police Chief Steven Trask said on Saturday.
The Police Department has been understaffed for several months, but Trask
said the department has been able to make up for the officers who are out.
“Staffing is OK at this point, we have reassigned some folks and our
officers that are able to do so are stepping up and coming to work like the
professionals that they are,” the chief said.
Officer Ryan Porter, president of the Framingham Police Officers Union, said
the union and the department administration are working together to try to keep
officers safe during the pandemic. Efforts include closing the lobby and taking
as many reports as possible over the phone.
The department has also issued personal protective equipment to all
officers, and dispatchers ask callers about potential symptoms or exposure to
coronavirus so officers can take necessary precautions when they respond to
emergency calls, Porter said.
Porter tried to get tested because he had contact with the officer who
tested positive for the coronavirus. He tried to get tested at a
first-responder site in Shrewsbury and by his doctor, but told he couldn’t get
tested.
“It would be beneficial to all first responders to be able to get tested
after contact with a known carrier; however, as it stands it is currently not
possible due to testing constraints,” said Porter. “There is some fear among
officers that the contact tracing process will not identify every point of
contact. The administration is following the guidelines issued by the CDC and
DPH, and informed all officers who they know had contact with the infected
officer. However, patient privacy laws tie their hands when it comes to informing
members of the department of a specific individual, so as officers, we are
really relying on each other to help us all get through this time safely and
with minimal impact. In my case, I wasn’t identified by contact tracing as a
potential exposure, but because the officer who tested positive made me aware,
I was able to take steps to ensure I was not spreading the disease.”
It is not known when all of the affected officers will return to duty.

I thought all first responders could be tested? If not that is ridiculous. How do we limit exposure if we don’t keep who has been exposed?
I saw on the news yesterday there is a first responders only test site at foxboro stadium. Can’t they be tested there?
as far as I've seen... all of these test sites vet the patients for symptoms. If your not symptomatic... then you don't get tested. I also think, there are not enough test kits to go to everybody who should be tested.
My question is... since the union rep had contact with the positive tested officer... is he quarantined for 14 days?
Why are we hearing this from you and not from the city? Where is the open communications around this issue?
Anyone inside or outside the department who had contact with this officer as well as anyone who had contact with those people should be in quarantine now. That is s lot of people. How do we find out if that has been done ?
the news from FPD was in the MWDN and on the other social media platforms, Patch and Source. I push this info out for those who don't get the paper. One might think the BOH would step in and order them to be isolated for 14 days.
We can't find out anything about the cops or it seems, anyone else, except for those brave enough to admit they have tested positive.
But did the mayor share it in any way? This should have come from her in her reverse 9-1-1 call.
Why are you talking about one cop and not about the other people in town who have tested positive? Was it a cashier at a grocery store or a pharmacy where I might have shopped? How about a delivery guy from the pizza place I ordered from last weekend, or maybe the cook at the taco place I got take out from? Resident of Framingham are far more likely to come in contact with one of these people than they are to come in contact with a cop. Ii get what you are saying Jim, but I think we are missing the point here. Why don't we know more about where those who have tested positive have been?
Awfully quiet here Jim. Everything ok with you and your family?
I agree.. we should know. The officer who had contact with another officer who tested positive was never informed. Besides the women who admitted being tested positive on FB last week or so, we don't know any of the others who have tested positive. The cops are on the front lines of this war and should take every precaution when dealing with the public. I just saw one without a face mask on. Like the construction workers moving the church, not one of them had a mask on.
I'm just as baffled as anyone as to why we don't know more about the newest of cases.
Have a look at last nights CC meeting, the BOH is on at 106:00 to 108:45
