Brazil and Mexico are in denial

Not only should we be on the lookout for people from New York, Europe and over 100 other countries, but those to our south as well. I hate to predict, but this region could be the next Italy.

In the Globe today, a piece from Ernesto Londono, Manuela Andreoni, Leticia Cassado, Azam Ahmed warning us that the Presidents of Brazil and Mexico are dismissing the pandemic. President Bolsonaro from Brazil is quoted to dismiss the virus as a "measly cold" and said that if he were to get the virus, he would recover easily because of his "athletic background.  As of Wednesday, Brazil had 2,271 confirmed cases and 47 deaths.
President of Mexico Obrador has dismissed calls to shut down business and sharply limit public transportation., calling such measures more devastating to people's welfare.
I hate to predict, but this region could be the next Italy.

Sounds like they are taking their lead from Trump

They will change their tune soon just like Trump did

That thought had come to me as well... from one crazy dictator to a pathological liar

And now India is the largest country in the world to impose such a drastic measure. The Prime Minister there told 1.3 billion residents to stay inside. They report 606 cases so far.

I've read that the Fed's are looking at prosecuting anyone who knowingly gives the virus to anyone as an act of terrorism.

Trump had a hand in every person who will die because we were not prepared. Can we prosecute him?

The President can't be indicted as long as he's a sitting president. But after he leaves office, the flood gates may open to various charges already in the Que. But if he opens up the country on Easter and our country sinks into a massive death rate, all bets may be off.

He can open the country but don’t governors have the right to not do anything hat in their states? I can’t imagine Bsker rescinding his order that schools are closed until May 4th. Hopefully the governors will hold their ground

This directive may have helped a few weeks ago

From the Patch:

Gov. Charlie Baker said all people coming into Massachusetts from out of state should self-quarantine for 14 days. The advisory, which will not be enforceable by law, takes effect immediately.

"Do not travel to our communities, especially if you have symptoms," Baker said Friday morning.

The move impacts people coming into Logan and Worcester airports, taking the train into areas like South Station or driving in. There will be fliers in popular transit spots and billboards letting people know.

Some travelers, like those who work in health care, public safety and transportation, will be exempt.

Baker also said it appears the economy "won't be up and running by Easter," a direct rebuke of President Trump's desire to have the country reopened by April 12.

So glad to see our governor stand up to the president. When the person in charge is uninformed and unable to listen to those smarter than him others have to save us from his mistakes. Hooray for Baker
