what is the BOH and Mayor waiting for?

I am shocked to see shoppers without face masks of some sort every time I go out. What few stores I have gone to in the last few weeks, including today at Whole Foods, I counted 7 shoppers without masks or gloves. One shopper is a former Town Meeting member, at least 10 to 20 years older than I, without any protection at all.
The numbers of infected continue to rise which include 16 inmates from MCI Framingham, a number we didn't know about before. I wonder what the BOH and the Mayor are waiting for. Is there a number of dead or infected that will trigger a mandatory face mask and gloves order for any store in the Ham? Could the death of that construction worker this week been prevented if all construction was shut down like Boston did weeks ago?

Wong said he might soon suggest similar measures be taken in Framingham to slow transmission among essential workers, though he stressed no decisions have been made.
“When we require every customer to be protected, to have face coverings, it lessens the asymptomatic transmission,” Wong said. “Think about all the grocery store workers, all the restaurant kitchen staff. If they are working from home, we wouldn’t be able to survive. They have to go into work and a lot of times they have to face customers and the public on a regular basis, and they are the ones who are getting infected.”
Wong is also considering following the lead of municipalities that have issued local orders requiring private construction sites to follow stricter rules for keeping workers at those sites safe.
“I think the way to do it is through a robust health and safety standard such as the one that the state has developed for public construction sites,” Wong said. “I think that would be the way to go. You can still continue to provide essential housing construction, but at the same time, it is being but at the same time, it is being done safely.”

Shame on those not wearing masks and gloves. Their ignorance sends a loud and clear message about their bigotry. Clearly they don’t think the health of those essential workers don’t matter to that all. Let’s call it what it is. It is belief that they are more entitled and more important than workers. Those not wearing masks are bigots and we should call them out on their ignorance

Where is the BOH on all of this? We should be hearing directly from them don’t you think?

I know all communities are struggling with issues related to Covid but everyone says we need to do more testing and tracking before we can safely move forward. Framingham seems to be behind other community in this area, without good factual data good fact based decisions can’t be made. Framingham needs to be better or no moving forward will happen here

I have yet to hear the city give one valid reason for without this info from residents. They just keep ignoring the requests of residents for info we are entitled to have. How do we force their hand Jim! There must be some way

I hear today that the governor is going to be releasing information statewide about the number of cases, where exactly those cases are, and some additional information. Sorry our Mayor and BOH can't do their jobs, but maybe the info from the state will answer some of our questions. Funny how the state can do this but the city of Framingham can't. Poor management of the city if you ask me. Just saying

we can't force the Mayor or the council to do anything I'm afraid.

I just read on Framlove that there are a number of patients at MWMC and a bunch in the ICU. It does make sense that we would have covid positive patients there...but I would guess they have limited space and personal to deal with this human tragedy.
