long time disabilities advocate Karen Demsey is not re-appointed

After 18 years and a founder of the disability commission, the Mayor has decided not to re-appoint Karen to the Commission.  Karen has done so much for equal access to Town buildings over the years and I see no reason why she wasn't re-appointed. Karen always ran a good meeting and kept "the needle moving", as the Mayor keeps saying.

Not that it may matter, but if our readers think Karen should be back on the commission, write to your district councilor and the Mayor. The council has 30 days to approve or reject the Mayor's appointees.

18 years on the same committee?!?!?! After 18 years, gracefully bow out if there are others who are willing to volunteer. Wasn't one of the reasons Framingham became a city was for more people to get involved?

She belongs to the power network. That means she gets to keep her spot forever.

Obviously the last poster is wrong since she is no longer on the committee

When you elect a mayor with no experience who was a tm member for a very short time and who has an abmissal voting record why would you expect her to value someone with experience and a proven track record of being involved?

I guess I was naive to think Karen's long standing work would have meant something to the Mayor.

I agree that new blood is needed in all of the committees. But as we've seen with some of the newest council members, nothing takes the place of experience in local government, no matter how smart you think you are.

You're only about half right on that experience stuff Jimbo. Janet has been in the govt forever and is still f#$%ing useless. Cannon is still an uncontrollable disaster. Stefanini is cooking up a new publicity scheme everytime you turn around. The part you are right on is about King, Long, and Phil. They all bring good experience to the table without much political bullshit.
