Board strips pension of former trooper
It's a start... but a long way to go to get justice for the taxpayers
From Matt Rocheleau at the Globe
The state’s retirement board on Thursday stripped the pension of a veteran Massachusetts State Police trooper convicted in a high-profile payroll fraud scheme, marking the first time the panel has punished an officer implicated in the sprawling scandal.
The five-member board voted to take away former trooper Paul Cesan’s pension, which would have paid the 52-year-old from Southwick and his former wife nearly $80,000 a year for the rest of his life. The board rarely strips pension benefits from state employees.
Cesan, a 25-year veteran of the State Police force, retired in March 2018 as the pace of the federal probe quickened. He was arrested in June 2018 and later pleaded guilty in federal court to charges he collected more than $29,000 for overtime hours he did not actually work in 2016. He was sentenced to serve a year of supervised release and ordered to pay restitution as well as a $5,500 fine.
Cesan will still keep $180,000 he contributed on his own to his pension.

About time they started hitting these criminals in the wallet. They broke the law, they should not get a taxpayer funder pension after doing that
Thanks for sharing this Jim with those of us who can not afford the $95 a month fee for the Globe
Am I reading this right? He is 52 and was going to collect $80,000 for the rest of his life. So if he lives until 77, which is probably a safe assumption, that is 25 years at $80,000 a year or 2 million and he only contributed $180,000 of his own money. That means that 1.8 million of his pension would have been paid by taxpayers? How can that be?

It was a hacker pushing some mirical cure, nothing related to the State Police
Nothin on the elections Jim? Aren't you worried about what is going to happen tomorrow if Trump loses?
I'm not worried here in the Ham. We have a handful of Trump Loyalists here and I doubt they will organize anything. The guy on water Street with the huge wooden Trump sign may have seen the light or his wife put the fear of god in him. I'm not sure about Milford though, they have had a few KKK flyers left in people's mailboxes as I remember.
Any red state could boil over if he loses. If the fringe left and right go looking for each other there could be blood shed. I assume Baker called out the Guard just for that reason.
For my grandchildren's sake, I hope Biden wins and the D's take back the Senate.
I think there is a rally going on in the Ham tomorrow if Trump tries to invalidate the outcome at all. Anyone know anything about this and where and when it is happening?
I just found out.. if Trump denies the vote.. rallies are being planed around the country. It appears it will be at the Memorial building tomorrow.
