When will they ever learn... about the marijuana laws?
Last night's council meeting shows again that after years of meetings, lawyers opinions, BOS bulling of the planning board, quacked out lies and mis-information from Judy Grove and Sam Wong and others, the council chair asked the COO about the newly approved delivery licenses that are now approved by the Cannabis Commission.
First, none of them have kept up with the new laws, including the COO. The new delivery category has three levels and licenses are to be given to minority owned business in an attempt to make up for the War of drugs disproportionate prosecution of black and brown people. This was part of the ballot question that was passed.
But back in 2017, the over zealous and mis-informed BOH made delivery of marijuana prohibited in Framingham. So there are no delivery licenses to be had here.
Second, the notion that there can be 13 retail stores is just wrong. And King, Steiner, Cannon and Long should know that. The law specifically says, the number of retail MJ stores can only be 20% of the total amount of liquor stores. Which for us is 6.. and no more, unless the CC votes to approve more.
Third, A few councilors asked about the zoning of the stores along Rte 9 and Rte 30 and why the stores are not spread out. The council member's who were at Town Meeting in 2012 when medical marijuana was approved by the voters should remember when BOS Chair Dennis Giombeti tried unsuccessfully to bully the Planning Board into making a small strip of rte 9 and rte 30 the only place for medical marijuana stores with three zoning articles. Town Meeting defeated each one them, but that same overlay district for retail mj was adopted by the marijuana task force and is what we have now. ALL the stores are on a small stretch of rte 9 and rte 30.
Forth, the notion that there was push back from the community about retail mj shops is a flat out lie. A false narrative pushed by a few who ignored the facts to further their own ignorance.
I wish I could stop writing about this subject. It's so old now.

They will learn when you teach them Jim. So many missed opportunities here in Framingham
Is this Jim live in Greensburg, PA? Julia T.
Should have said: "Does this Jim Pillsbury live and work in, Greensburg, PA?
I live Framingham, not sure how Greensburg PA has anything to do with me.
