Average State Trooper pay 114,764 for 2017

When you hear our Police Chief and HR Dolores Hamilton talk about why our younger trained cops want to leave FPD for the State.. .just look at the perks these gun slingers get. Out of 2100 State cops, 212 took home over 200,000. One collected over 300,000. And get this... because of some far out policy that allows state employee's to have their salary kept secret if they have been a crime victim. So there's 427 who we don't know what they make or how they make it.
Even Marry Connaughton, the Government transparency director at the Pioneer Institute was quoted in the Globe as saying "she had serious concerns about how much overtime troopers collected"  and in some cases, more than their base salary. She went on to question how safe it is to work all those hours and how could the public be assured that they are truly working those hours reported.
According to the union boss, they are 500 people short of what is needed.

So fully staffed at 2600 troopers... will the overtime go down?

This is bullshit. They claim they are down all those troopers just to justify the overtime they all get paid for. No way we need another 500 state troopers whose main job is to write tickets for people driving on state roads. I would really like to see who they came up with the number or troppers needed.

I would as well on the number. It may be a number thrown out by the unions but I had not heard a word about expanding the force by 500 from the campaign trail last year.

On a brighter note, the State Cops have agreed to a pilot program for body cams. This will help determine bad behavior from both motorists and the cops them selves. I had hoped that dash cams would also be deployed in every cruiser. FPD is next I hope.

Hogwash. They are just looking to deflect the attention from the scandals by saying they are under staffed. No one complained about staffing when they were raking in $50,000 grand a year in overtime pay.
