Newspapers take on wallpaper advertising

Just an observation about the amount of advertising in today's USA Today. Other papers are in the act as the Globe on someday adds a half page to the front page, leaving some headlines to draw us in. But today, a tax software company bought the front page and 3 more for a total of 4 pages of 12" x 22", one page from an alternative nicotine delivery device and 2 complete 12" x 22" pages from a famous bank who ripped off millions of home buyers and was fined and continues to be called out for their highly fraudulent business practices with their own customers.
I guess the papers are forced to get whatever advertising revenue they can while someone is still willing to pay them to do so.  Bottom line is, 11 pages to section A, 7 are advertisers, 4 are for the news. I cant fathom how much it costs them to advertise in such a world wide paper.

This is exactly why I don’t buy the paper. Nothing but ads

How much money do you spend on newspaper subscriptions every month? Your fixed income has a lot more wiggle room than mine if you are getting the MWD News, Boston Globe and USA Today. That has to be costing you at least $100 a month. Glad you share that info with those of us who can’t afford it

Since I stopped working.. Steph picks up the papers thankfully.

Unfortunately, advertising pays for the reporters which we need even more now with so much unreliable news coverage from social media platforms.
