Be involved with the census? Try the Complete Count Committee
I wonder why it's not called a TASK Force? It's a worthy cause that I applied for.
What is the Census?:
The U.S. Constitution (Article I, Section 2) mandates a headcount every 10 years of everyone residing in the 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the Island Areas of the United States. This includes people of all ages, races, ethnic groups, citizens, and non-citizens.
How the Census impacts Framingham:
The population totals from the census determine the number of seats each state has in the House of Representatives. States also use the totals to redraw their legislative and school districts. The population totals also affect funding in the Framingham community, and data collected in the census help decision makers know how your community is changing.
The Complete Count Committee will advise on:
Increasing the self-response rate for households responding online, by phone, or mailing their questionnaires through a focused, structured, neighbor-to-neighbor program.
Leveraging local knowledge, expertise, and influence of each member to design and implement a census awareness campaign targeted to the community.
Bringing together a cross section of community members whose focus is 2020 census awareness.
Implementing creative outreach strategies in areas that may be considered hard to count areas.
Applications to serve on the Complete Count Committee will be available until 12:00pm on Monday, March 18, 2019 and can be submitted here.
Members will be appointed by the Mayor and must be willing to serve until the Census is complete in June 2020.
2 Comments:
I hope we get some people who speak languages other then English to be part of this effort.
I was turned down for this group. Maybe no second language? But the position is not knocking on doors. Just brainstorming.
