The Mayor answers a question about marijuana from Patch

An interview with the Mayor about marijuana. I am disappointed to read the Mayor will "play it by ear" as to how many businesses the city will house. Where the hell has she been all this time?

From the Patch

The Marijuana Industry in Framingham

Spicer holds the strides made so far in the evaluating process for possible marijuana businesses in the city as a testament to collaboration with the City Council. So far, three businesses have moved forward to begin host community agreement negotiations with the mayor and Spicer said the city is playing it by ear as to how many businesses the city will house.

Anyone who has been to a Community Outreach Meeting in the city knows that the majority of concerns by residents aren't about cannabis but about traffic. The police department's traffic and safety division has dwindled to just one officer. Spicer said she realizes traffic in general is an issue throughout the city. "That's why we have a police officer on the MAT team and require a traffic plan," she said.

take a look at the Fox piece today. They looked at crime around marijuana shops in the state.

And this surprises you why Jim? She has yet to take a stand or get out in front of one single controversial or questionable issue. She is nothing but a figurehead, she has no backbone and apparently no work ethic as she has not trouble cashing her paycheck while skirting her job.

I did think she would know what the number of retail shops would be from last year's council meeting. Months of meetings over the number of shops. She couldn't have missed that. It's no more than 6, anything less would violate the ballot question and the vote for 6 by the council.
There's in no limit to how much manufacturing could be done here or cultivation as long as it's properly zoned.

Our mayor is a bright and charismatic women, but she knows nothing at all about running a city, and that is clearly obvious. I like her and she would be a great marketing guru for the city, but she is no mayor and we are suffering because of that

I completely agree with the previous poster. We seem to have lost sight of that fact. When I say I think she is doing a lousy job as mayor, that does not mean I don’t like her or that I don’t think she is well intentioned or that she is not smart. It simply means that I have not seen her doing anything to lead our city, she just lets others make decisions and never takes a stand on anything. She is clearly more interested in making sure she does not piss anyone off because she wants to continue to be our mayor. Hey, after all, she got a big raise, a new car, and a driver.
Spicer was strongly promoted by some in our city as the right choice for our first mayor. I have to say I question the judgement of these people. I suspect they promoted her without really thinking about if she could do that job. One of those people who promoted Spicer is now busy promoting herself and I suspect that is because she is planning to run for mayor herself. In my humble opinion, the fact this other woman worked so hard to get Spicer elected, and is now working even harder to position herself to run for that job herself, is reason enough for me and overwhelmingly all I speak to, to not support her if she does run for mayor. So watch for who decides to run for Cheryl Tully Stolls DC seat as a way to position herself to run against Spicer in 2021. And when she does announce she is going to run for these positions, look up what she has done for the last 10 years compared to what she has been doing for the last year. If you don’t see her as another example of someone who is more interested in being in the public eye then in being qualified to run Framingham then you are not paying attention. We do not need someone else more interested in promoting her own welfare than promoting the welfare of the citizens of Framingham.

If you are paying attention to what is going on in Framingham then you already know who that poster is talking about. She is a long time TM member who is often condescending to others when she is trying to act as a “teacher” to those “less knowledgeable” than she is. She does not ever acknowledge that someone else may know more than her, and she is not above calling someone out on public forums simply because they have a different idea than she does. Of course, being politically savvy, she always is very polite when calling them out. But I have found her to be completely wrong in what she preaches on more than one occasion. She can get herself appointed to as many commissions and promote herself for awards as much as she wants, but that is a far cry from being a good candidate for any public office. I will take a genuine person over her any day.

I can think of a few people that fit the description of the previous posters. Come on, who are you talking about?

I think the more interesting question here is about who will run for Cheryl's seat, and why is Cheryl suddenly not interested in being part of the power in Framingham?
