Watched this twice already on your LWV Facebook page, and picked up something new to me both times. Thanks for doing these events Jim

I too am amazed at what I thought was ok to toss in the recycle cart. All this time I've been tossing in the prescription bottles after I black magic marker my name, only to find out they (the recycle companies) don't want them, but will take the over the counter medicine bottles, washed out of coarse.
Over the years, I've been guilty of the Christmas wrap getting tossed in, but will never again.
I did hear from a viewer who thought the show should be shorter in time or condensing it down to bullet points. I'll work on that.

It will be shorter once everyone gets the info about what we can and can not recycle. What part would this idiot suggest you skip?

While driving around today I passed many recycle carts with open lids, stuffed with cardboard that didn't fit. I did also see that some carts had not been picked up as I assume the driver noticed there were items in the cart that should not be in the cart to begin with. It is disappointing to see this and it tells me the City must do more to get the word out.
A few take a ways from the recycle show:

No pre-bagging the items to be recycled
no plastic bags of any kind
rinse or clean every can, bottle, plastic milk container
no milk cartons, soup or food cartons of any kind
no prescription bottles
over the counter medical or supplemental food plastic bottles are ok
no pizza boxes of any kind
no fast food containers
no holiday wrapping paper, ribbons or bows
no plastic or metal hangers
cardboard must be cut down to fit in cart
lid must always stay closed
when in doubt, throw it in the trash cart

Lastly... the inside of your recycle cart should be clean enough for you to climb in and not get dirty.
