More revaltions from MSP and Maura Healy's office

As promised Matt Rocheleau has expanded the news about what Colonel Mason form the MSP has said. Mason said in a press conference that prosecutors had reviewed cases for 3 dozen troopers involved with the scandal, but referred them back to State Police in May for administrative discipline.  But Fed prosecutor Lelling's office disputed that characterization hours late.
"That is incorrect" said spokesperson Christina Sterling in an e mail, "There have been no 'referrals' in either direction. This is an independent investigation by federal authorities".
AG Healey office announced on Friday it was closing its probe and referring its material to a division of the Inspector General's office created in 2018 to provide oversight of the MSP.
MSP officials on Friday said the agency's own internal; probe of overtime abuse in now over, unless new evidence of misconduct surfaces. The department said it will not payroll or other records prior to 2015. Mason was quoted as saying, "The public has a right to be skeptical with MSP, and so we're working hard to regain that trust".

I hope all of our readers are shocked as I am with AG Maura Healy's refusal to investigate and hold the troopers accountable for stealing from the State. I guess we can only hope the the feds will not stop investigating farther back to determine how long this abuse has been going on and prosecute them in federal court.

Curious. What does governor Baker have to say about all of this? Any comment from him about Healy not being willing to go after these slime balls?

From Governor Baker and the Globe: released in a statement saying it "supports all prosecutors’ offices continued efforts to hold accountable all those who broke the law".

So, he played it safe and covered his ass by saying that. The MSP are a big voting block of 2100 people, I think.

But he and DeLeo and Spilka should convene hearings now. The MSP with all their new reforms hasn’t addressed the critical question, how long and to what extent, this type of fraud and theft have been accruing. It's not enough to be fired and lose your pension.
Theft in any kind from the State is theft. Others are in jail for stealing a lot less money from the State.
I feel like stopping traffic like the old days. I'm am so pissed at our State Government and just as pissed with the way the Federal Government is now running.

Failure to manage results in continued issues, and clearly it has been a long time since anyone has really managed the state troopers. Maybe this guy will be different, but there is only so much he can do without the support of the Governor and the AG. You are right Jim. There are lots of people in jail for stealing food to feed their family, yet these cops are not serving any time. Completely unfair and a travesty of justice.

I don't think we can force the AG to do anything. If the Governor and the Legislature don't push for justice, then I believe there's not much we can do, but complain.

I sent a note to Maria... and usually she responds quickly, but in this case, she hasn't. Not one of Beacon Hill elites wants to ruffle the feathers of such a large voting block.

My only hope now is that Lelling (Fed prosecutor) will pick up where he left off and pursues federal indictments on corruption and fraud charges. He's not affarid of MSP.

One last thought, the Globe did a great full length piece on this on Sunday. Whats surprising is the MWDN left out everything about what Healy would not do and what Lellings office said about the state not prosecuting the cops. Very disappointing but understandable given the lack of resources and space the paper is dealing with. But if I anyone didn't read the globe piece we'd never know the whole story.
