BOH Sam Wong is leaving
I have strenuously disagreed with Sam over the Marijuana regs and his propaganda campaign and didn't agree with him on pulling out of the State's Contact Tracing program and felt strongly that he could have and should have mandated masks earlier this year, but for him to leave now leaves the Ham in a bad spot. The roll-out of vaccinations are beginning in nursing homes and I would have thought he'd be coordinating the effort.
I'm not sure who to believe, the Mayor's office said in a press release, Sam was going out on medical leave, but in a e mail Source found, Sam was leaving because he was having health issue's working 7 days a week since March. I trust he doesn't have covid or any other life threatening disease but needs time away from the City and perhaps even the Mayor.
I hope he gets the rest he needs

Question remains, is he taking a medical leave and coming back or is he resigning?
my guess is he's resigning because he has to
I wonder why his second in command couldn't have allowed Sam to take weekends off
or did the Mayor pressure him to work 7 days a week?
I suspect after the way he was treated at the last DC meeting that he said screw this, I am out of here. He has a great reputation is a widely respected across the state so why should he put up with the idiots like your DC Jim who treat him like he is incompetent?
Whatever the truth is, this is a loss for Framingham. He is probably the most respected Health Director in the state of MA (except in Jim's eyes) and we are losing him. And even worse is that the Mayor is lying publicly about why he is leaving. She has to be aware of the fact his resignation email has been shared with all of us which contradicts her press release and yet she still has not addressed that. What the hell is her problem?
Who do we believe at this point? The Mayor is contradicting Sam with the latest press release.
I stand by my opinion based on the facts. Sam played into the reefer madness council narrative that Giombetti, Grove and the majority of the council wanted to hear. But it's all in the past and like everything else in this community, the truth never seems to be acknowledged.
Perhaps after a few months off he will come back and resume his duties.
jim the mwdn news story said your jackass city councilor was one of the reasons he left.
That maybe.. you'd have to ask Sam. Although I've seen Mike treat others much worse. Don't forget, it was in March I believe that Sam said "chances of us getting covid were slim". That was when we had one case in Framingham. Was that the same article that someone described Sam as "God"?
We should have and could have if the Mayor and Sam had the guts to enforce masks mandates when Baker called in a state of emergency.
There seems to be no end to the question whether Sam Wong is leaving for good, taking vacation time or taking a medical leave of absence. It appears he has accrued enough vacation and sick to to take a few months off. But one can't help see the different press releases and comments from the Administration, on the same subject a might confusing, at a time when more people are dying from covid and plans for vacating first responders and nursing home patients. I hope for everyone's sake Ms. DePolo, the new BOH god knows what she is doing.

Jim if you don't think your little shit of a COuncilor is having an impact on employee morale you better think again
I'm sure your right...moral must be sinking but don't blame me.. lay the blame on his supporters. It's up to the Chair to real him in as it was for the previous chair. We were never allowed to badger anyone at Town Meeting.
