dangling wires

For those of you who travel the Nobscot area you may have noticed a large Verizon box dangling over the sidewalk on Water Street. Or maybe the eye level rather large conduit pipes on Edgell. This safety issue was brought to my attention by my neighbor who walks these roads in good weather and asked me if I could do something about them.

So I made pictures of all the wires and sent them to the DPW mail box. My neighbor sent a note to the DPW weeks before asking them to fix the issue. She and I got the same reply from DPW saying the Town doesn't have anything to do with dangling wires and to call, EverSource, Verizon and the three cable companies.

I posted all this information with Nobscot neighbors on FB and wouldn't you know, all kinds of suggestions were made, including one from Janet L who said she would call the DPW and have them look into it. That was 2 weeks ago and all but one dangling wire are still there. Now comes a message from John S writing that we should all just send a note to the DPW e email address.

I even wrote to Chris Petrini and asked what possible liability the City has if someone got hurt but no answer yet.

What's the skinny Jim on League elections? A slate of repubs running the local League? And two of the biggest bullies in the city now officers? What is the world coming to??

So did you resign or did they force you out? Hope it was the first. We lost a very valuable service to residents after this election last night. These bozos are in no way qualified to represent the League of Woman Voters. I hope someone is monitoring them!

Dec 10th and the wires are still down. I wonder if the sidewalk plows will have trouble getting around them when it snows.

Before our election in Nov which no one showed up for, Steph and I decided to not run, so we resigned.
A small group of republicans decided that our non-partisan candidate forums with neutral moderators wasn't working for them. So the republicans recruited people I've never heard of before (except 2) to run for the slate. Although a motion to delay the election was rejected by the new members, a vote for the slate had to happen.

We heard from many in the community about those who were elected, they only got there by stacking the deck and our usual members didn't show up to vote.
We set the bar high, we showed the residents that fair candidate forums could happen here. Over the 5 years, we had many public forums to inform Framingham about current topics like, mis-information in the media to recycling. We registered a few hundred kids and adults who were eligible to vote.
We need a break from the anger some have towards the League. Everybody is watching.

What a bunch of losers these new officers are. Do any of them know anything about the league at all?

At least 2 of these people have been on line attacking the LWV for years and now they want to run it? Do they think no one knows what hypocrites that makes them?

Isn’t one if the new officers the president of the republican town wide committee? Is that even allowed?

The new president has a reputation for being extremely difficult to deal with. She also has a reputation for not showing up to do what she has said she will do. I predict she will fail miserably and quickly. She is no Stephanie.

Saw the Patch article today. Let’s hope people read that to see what is happening here and to other Leagues around the country
