Who's up as Chair and who wants to be

Before the D3 election, on Jan 1, the new council will elect it's Chair and other leaders of the other committee's like the all important Finance Sub Committee. Steiner could be a deciding factor in who's leading the council even if he looses. So the obvious person lurking in the shadows is John.  But does he have the support of the newbies and do they understand what voting for him may end up happening? For example, if Charlie (at 76) can't maintain his office, then the council chair gets the nod. And then there's Phil who may have his sights on the top spot, but I don't think he could buy enough votes. George may have had enough of the least 4 years to call it a day and chase ambulances for Morgan and Morgan. But since he's worked for and with Charlie before, it may help Framingham in general if King stayed on as Chair and prevent John from taking over the City. Keezer will be gone along with our black Mayor and Tusino will be Charlie's mouth piece. Mike has worked with King before. And they seem to get along  nicely. Adam would make a decent chair but he has Cannon to rally against him.

any bets?

Lots of assumptions here Jim. And I am surprised to see you see Tosino will be the new Mayor's mouthpiece. I don't agree with that. I do think that there are lots of issues on the district council, and I don't see them being fixed as long as King is the chair. I support Steiner but I don't live in his district which means my support means nothing. Feeney talks the good talk but I have yet to see her do one thing other than talk. Her claims about her involvment in building a more environmentally sound community are a bunch of bull crap. Even the Sierra club did not buy that crap she was selling. It will be interesting to see how all this plays out. And by the way, good for Ms. Deely for raising questions about who the questions for the upcoming LWV forum are coming from. Pretty big mistake that they were not even asking residents of the district for question until Ms. Deely brought it up. I hope you and her continue to keep an eye on these new supposed officers of the local LWV.

John made a motion to keep things they way they are now and wait till Jan 18th meeting to elect a new chair and committee appointments, after the D3 election. He doesn't have the votes to become council chair now.
The sound was very bad in the live version and I couldn't hear John at all. Gov TV must have boosted the gain on John's mic during John's motion as you could hear George's heavy breathing. Another poorly produced government meeting.

I wonder who will be the new SC chair. Thankfully it won't be Epstein. Never elect him to anything again. Nice self congratulatory letter he wrote in the Sauce. No mention of the teachers that have been the ones who truly kept things together these past two years.

Geez I hope not about Charlie.

Is Adam not staying on as Chair? Who would be as good or better? It'll be a few years before Val takes over...maybe when Phil is Mayor. I agree on Epstein. LaBarge, Sousa are out, Bev has been already, who's left?

Are you saying if MK is elected John will have the votes to be DC chair? That’s reason enough to elect Steiner

I believe so. He's her ally and mentor and most likely will vote with whim him forever. She needs his support to win the election imo.

Remember the show, All in the Family? The charter should ban family members from serving simultaneously in elected office.

With Adam Steiner now officially elected, how does that play into who will be the Council Chair?

His election changes things for sure. John is on the phone now trying to persuade the newbie's. But George now may want to stay on as Chair now that his pal and former boss is at the helm. As a team, they may be able to get things done, quickly without the fuss.
I think George could win if he wanted to continue as chair. John could get Janet, Mike, Novall and maybe Leora, but not the others imo.
