A COVID-19 meeting worth watching

As long as you have a computer. This meeting will NOT be televised on Gov TV or on FB Live. I've written to the Mayor's office and asked why the meeting would not be televised. There is no technical reason why these important meetings are not televised and in my opinion, discriminates against those who don't have a computer with a camera installed on it. There are around 20K cable subscribers who would be able to watch the hour long show if it were on.

Drop a note to kmcfalls@framinghamma.gov and say broadcast the meetings on TV please.

Tuesday, April 21, Zoom Community Hour to Discuss COVID-19 with Mayor Spicer and Health Department Director Dr. Wong from 5-6 p.m

Mayor Spicer and Dr. Wong will answer resident questions live about how the City is managing COVID-19. Questions can be posed during the hour via the Zoom’s Chat function. If you cannot attend and have questions, please email kmcfalls@framinghamma.gov with the subject line: April 21 Community Hour.  A video recording of the Zoom will be available following for those who couldn’t attend.

For the life of me, I can't understand the Mayor's reasoning or her reluctance to push this info out to a broader audience. Those who are don't use or have a computer, your out of luck. I wonder how many people joined the Zoom meeting last night, but whatever the number is, it's only a small fraction of the total population of Framingham. The City needs to do better.

You don't need a camera on your computer to participate in one of these meetings, you don't really even need a computer. You can call in via phone and hear everything but not see anything but that is fine. The problem is that if you don't have internet how do you even know this meeting is happening? Info is on the city website and often in Source but you need to have internet access to see either of those sources. I agree this should be broadcast on Government access, and I agree that it is discriminatory that it isn't. But I think the more important issues is how they are getting the word out about these meetings.

as of today... I don't see it anywhere, not on the FramGov page, or on the Gov TV page. I'm not sure where else to look for it.

I agree.. you don't need much to listen in... but you need to know it's happening somewhere in the public.
