A new memorial honoring veterans of the Vietnam War

Will take place at the MWRTA center at 15 Blandin Ave, on Nov 27th at Noon. The group behind this long process are, John MacGillivray, Ed Carr, Jeff Buccacio, Jack Arena, and Warren Griffin. A 9' statue made by Mr. Buccacio, modeled after Nam Vet Curtis Herald, with the help of Carr, MacGillivary, Jack Arena and Warren Griffin. This statue belongs in Cushing Park, but the politics in this Town would have never allowed such a tribute to be placed where other monuments to our war dead are. The names of those who lost their lives in Nam from this area will be on the monument.

We won the war... Q4 passes

So Framingham voters approved Q4 15,677 to 13,340. Not as big as I had envisioned, but consider that since 2000  marijuana has been on the ballot 4 times and in each, won by overwhelmingly. Now before the doomsayers run and hide from this consider the tax revenue impact this will have on our budget. And also consider the amount of law enforcement dollars not needed to enforce prohibition of marijuana.. now to be considered ad cannabis.
Law enforcement will have to wear their body cameras to show a driver to be impaired when pulled over, despite the fact that a breathalyzer will not be used. Young children will NOT be running to a cannabis cafe and getting high or sick on eatables. Parents who grow will have their plants out of public sight. And the State will have to come up with reasonable regulations by 2018. They had the opportunity to draft a legalization law but failed to do so.
I'm reminded by some fellow MW Norml members of all the years we stood in front of the post office each April, telling last minute tax payers how if marijuana were legalized their taxes would be less.
Time will tell how much revenue will be generated for Framingham, but I believe it will be in the millions when a few shops (cafes) are up and running. After all, after the country elected Trump, we in all blue Mass may need a get high with a little help from our friends.
Thanks to all who have hung in there.. common sense has prevailed over non sense.

Gov TV fails once again to allow a Goverment meeting to be broadcast

Last month a group from the State Government was traveling the State regarding the Ballot question 4, the legalization of marijuana. The group asked Gov TV to produce and air the meeting which was held at the Blummer Room at the Town Hall. The meeting was jammed packed with people, the most I've ever seen at a meeting there. This room is the same room that all the charter meetings are held and reordered and is set up to record anything in that room. The group asked Gov TV well in advance. The request was made of Carly Melo and Ron Rego of Gov TV. They refused to cover the event because it wasn't Government related. When I asked Ms. Melo why the meeting wasn't reordered and aired on Gov TV.

"The host of the forum MA Public Health requested it but we recommended they contact Public Access since it wasn’t a government sponsored event.  They hired a contractor to record the meeting; we allowed them to use the A/V equipment (microphones, podiums…) in Blumer.

Thanks,
Carly

Pressed for an answer as to why it wasn't recorded by Gov TV her reply was:

"Ron and I generally discuss events he’s asked to record outside of standard meetings and Town events, and evaluate them on a case by case basis.  Although it may be a public event , it wasn’t sponsored by or for Town government, and doesn’t support the Town’s programs and initiatives, so it didn’t meet the criteria established for Government Channel events".

Thanks,
Carly

What is more government related than a ballot question? And who are they to determine what Government meetings can the public see. Gov TV has no problem with producing a show called "Framingham Today" with a sock-less has been selectman and a troll. They have no problem with producing and airing a festival at Farm pond, but yet a ballot question doesn't rise to a level of coverage from Gov TV. They don't operate without the expressed consent of the Town Manger and the BOS and once again, the cable subscribers were denied the right to see an important debate about Question 4.

The keys to cash and drugs at FPD

We now learn from TV and print media, our beloved FPD has more serious problems in the truth department. All of this supposedly happened in 2015 and the said evidence room, as of September has a new lock.  The investigation by the Middlesex DA's office should be viewed as cops investigating cops. Like the Eurie Stamps killing investigated by Gerry Leone at the Middlesex Da's office which the DA said it was an accident after months of secrecy. I see no difference in this case. Cops cannot investigate cop behavior. Given what we know now as facts, thanks in part to a freedom of information request by the MWDN. We know that one officer is fired after a 7 month paid vacation. But what we don't know is how many other officers know about the spare kept to the evidence lock up. We have already seen cases being thrown out and will continue to see more, as smart attorneys hone in on this unbelievable event. With all that drug money seized from the accused and all the drugs that just sit there, the temptation is more than most cops can handle. The larger question is how far does this go back. We know it goes back to September 15th for sure, but we haven't heard how far back it may go.
All this is a shinning example of the lack of oversight in FPD and the leftover problems that excise from the Carl administration. Will there be any way of knowing how much is stolen in drugs and money? We know that officers took momentous from busts and displayed them at their desks.
All this unfortunate and illegal actions took place in plain view of management. We have also heard of double dipping, cops working details while out on sick time, an area that I have brought to Town Meeting attention for years, only to be shot down by a loyal lethargic group of blind and afraid Town Meeting members.
I feel bad for the Chief. He inherited a bad group of lawless cops who think the are above the law and since one cop got away with murder, all the rest have used that incident to justify their behavior. In the coming weeks, we will learn more about this and will be a black mark on a department who has grown in size for no apparent reason.
